The Dental Express Point Loma

I have dentists in my family, and I have to say, this was one of my worst dental appointments. I don't know if people just don't know what good training is, but the staff was awful. They had to redo every single one of my ex-rays exposing me to twice the radiation, and despite not having plaque buildup, the hygienist used the sonic scaler which he should not have and he chewed my gums up bad! He kept missing and sticking it in my gums. Most painful visit I've ever had.

I HATE going to the Dentist. This also helps explain my " Beetle Juice" smile. Mere toothaches were not enough for me to overcome my terror; however when the abscess brought me to my knees, I found myself at Dental Express. Not only was the entire visit free from pain (except the abscess),the staff made me feel relaxed and important. They had me in and out in well under an hour and made a future appointment to remove and replace my entire NEW grill...6 out of 5 stars

Today I made my second visit to Dental Express. I can't say that I've ever enjoyed dentists visit as much as I do here. Kristen and Josh were really cool and Dr. Chris was friendly. I highly recommend Dental Express.

Very professional and friendly staff. They use new equipment and the atmosphere of the inside of the building is very clean and welcoming. I highly recommend Dental Express based on my experience with new patient exams, dental cleanings, tooth x-rays, and professionalism of the whole staff.

I have FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE visiting this clinic, and these people are price gougers. They wanted to charge me 200.00 dollars for what they called "irrigation" on a deep cleaning. This was just a simple mouth rinse and was completely covered under DentiCal with another Dentist. PLEASE get a second evaluation if they ask you for ANY money out of pocket.

Friendly and welcoming receptionist staff.. great reminders via text and email...professional and courteous dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants....Open Saturday's too! We loved our experience !

According to this dentist, and only this dentist, medi-cal doesn't cover root canals. That's actually totally false. Medical covers root canals. The other 3 offices I went to cover it. But if you read the reviews you will see they double charge and scam people frequently. So now I have to figure out to contact about this scam.

Definitely come here if you want to wait for an entire hour after your appointment to speak with the dentist and then have her be rude to you! Her staff was super sweet though.

Doctor was emotionless and didn’t care about the anxiety I had about dentists. Told me quickly what I needed to do in the worst way while I was in tears, threw 3 prescriptions on my stomach as I lie face up, and walked out. No compassion. The office manager was rude and abrasive, I was never told to bring the paperwork back to the counter when completed as I assumed I would hand it to the assistant when I was called. I wasn’t called for 49 mins when she came out, asked me my name, and slowly (as if I was mentally inept) told me I should’ve taken the clipboard back to the counter. Apparently, I’m stupid. The only nice person was the dental assistant who was ripped apart by an Dental Hygenist who felt repranding her in front of a patient was acceptable. How unprofessional of her to belittle the dental assistant in such a manner while in the presence of a patient. I told her to handle office issues privately.
In addition, the dental coordinator came in the room at the end and brought me 3 papers with numbers explaining what I needed done. Mind you, I just moved to the area with my daughter who has Medi Cal/ Denti Cal and waiting to start my job. So my Insurance is temporary, but I was called “you guys”’when referring to Medi Cal patients repeatedly. “We try to make it more affordable for YOU GUYS” or “ WE know you GUYS need assistance with ______” to me it felt discriminating and belittling,
She Kept referring to the price as if that was my main issue, when money was not. It was the stress of what was told to me, the ignoring of my apparent anxiety, the lack of professionalism, the descrininitory terms, and lack of general compassion that made this experience the worst I could’ve ever had.

Perhaps it’s bc I had Denti Cal, and I’m not worth compassion or kindness from anyone but the dental asststant.
