    Poor Customer Service Unreliable Appointment Scheduling

    Don’t waste your time with this dental office!!! They get you in for your initial appointment no problem, then if you try and call in to make an appointment to get the work done they never answer or put you on hold until you hang up or it automatically hangs up on you after so long. No problem at all getting through to schedule your first appointment by pressing 1 if you’re not an existing patient, but even those guys can’t schedule an appointment for you for some strange reason, only new patients. Some kind of bs going on here. Should have read the reviews first, hope this helps!

    Poor Facility Maintenance Incorrect Diagnosis

    Staff was kind but facility was not well kept. The dentist was incorrect with diagnosis (which caused me a lot of stress). Got second opinion elsewhere.

    Bad Experience Uncomfortable Inflamed Gums Unprofessional

    I have never had a worse experience with the Dentist. I went in for a regular check up and my teeth were fine. They did an x-ray and didn’t find any reasons for concerns. Dr. Khatwani took almost an hour to check around my teeth and they seemed fine. She played around with her tools inside my mouth and it was extremely uncomfortable. I thought that that was normal until a few days later when my gums got badly inflamed and I had to keep taking Ibuprofen to function normally. My entire lower left side of the jaw hurts very badly and I had never had even a single toothache issue in the last two years up until I visited Dr. Khatwani at Gentle Dental in Mission, SF. My worst nightmare has come true with this visit. When I called to schedule a follow up appointment, no one picked up the phone. I called multiple times but to no avail. Literally the worst place you can get treatment. Extremely unprofessional

    Poor Customer Service Unresponsive Billing Issues

    When one actually is seen there it is OK. However, they very, very rarely answer the phone. When one calls they have a separate number for new patients--that phone is always answered, in my experience. But for current patients they don't answer the phone--whether to make an appointment, to pay a bill, when one needs to communicate with a dentist, and so on. If you can actually get in there, the dental services seemed to be fine (except when they mixed up a bill); but I am getting a different dentist because over a period of months, for even such fundamental things as scheduling an appointment or even paying a bill, they just don't answer the phone. It is just not possible to work with the dental facility, unfortunately.

    P. S.: The location responded to my review and gave their phone number. But they still don't answer the phone. To pay my dental bill I needed to send a letter to their headquarters in another state. Their headquarters tried to call them as well, but could not get through and nobody would return phone calls for about a week. Finally the headquarters called me back and let me pay my bill over the phone.

    They were nice enough people when you are there, they just don't answer the phone or return calls.

    Poor Customer Service Delayed Treatment Incomplete Treatment Expensive

    I got got my braces at El Cerrito Gentle Dental and the team there was AMAZING! Sadly, they closed this location down and I was sent to Hayward until I finally got transferred to San Francisco. This is when everything went South.

    San Francisco Gentle Dental kept rescheduling or cancelling my appointment in occasions (due to staffing was their reason). This caused me to fall behind in my treatment. Per my contract my braces were to be taken off in December 2019, and as of today- October 2020 I still have them on.

    In June I relocated to Santa Rosa and I wasn't able to make the appointments all the way to San Francisco so I requested to have my appointments in Santa Rosa Gentle Dental. They told me I would have to wait until August because they didn't have an orthodontist in Santa Rosa's office. September came and the status of hiring this orthodontist was still pending. Once again, I was falling behind in my treatment for waiting on Gentle Dental.

    In July I requested to transfer out and get a partial refund for incomplete treatment and for the retainers that I had already paid in advance (I paid almost $5000 for braces treatment). As of October 2020 no response from the manager at the office who was dealing with my refunt situation. She won't take any of my calls nor emails. I understand things can take time, but no single communication.

    I am someone who never writes reviews because I believe everyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, but with all honesty, if you can go to a different dentist please do so.

    Bad Experience Rude Dentist Unprofessional

    The WORST dentist experience ever. I have never felt adverse to dentists before I visited this place. My dentist had no regard for my general feelings at all. I was clearly in pain and she proceeded to continue her aggressive cleaning. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. After the deep clean, she demanded that I raise the mirror to look at my bloody mouth. She then proceeded to berate me on the condition of my mouth without actually giving me any helpful advice. I’m never coming back. If you made it to the end of this review, please save yourself from the trauma and do not go here.

    Bad Experience Incompetent Dentist Poor Follow-up Delayed X-ray Transfer

    The worst experience I’ve had in my life with a dental provider. The dentist took an entire hour to remove my crown. She was only able to remove it by breaking it into a million pieces with brute force. She also had to poke me 4-5 times with localized anesthetic (probably because she didn’t put it in the proper place the first three times). Had gum surgery and they didn’t follow up nor did they ask to schedule a follow up appointment. Asked to transfer the x-rays they took and they make you wait at least 7 business days to send them to another provider. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

    Poor Customer Service Billing Issues

    Dentists here are actually great, and I'll be sad not to be going to Dr. K again.

    Unfortunately, my experience with the office staff has been terrible. They are generally hard to reach, and belligerent in demeanor. They sent me a bill 5 months after my visit after never having tried to file a claim with my insurance. I seriously wish I had read reviews before I went to the SF office, because then I never would have chosen them. I'm also highly irritated by the responses to previous comments about taking them "very seriously" given nothing has changed!

    Poor Organization Bad Communication Lack of Professionalism Unhelpful Staff

    Not an organized place. The staff does not have a clue about files, they do not answer the phone and have no communication among them with the patient. If they answer the phone,and you ask questions,they place you on hold for a while;it gives the impression they have no idea how to respond. One person tells you something
    different from the other person, regarding questions about the bill and appointments. They never check on your Insurance, if you are still have coverage for the year. In another words they bill the whole amount.
    They lack integrity and class, their main office keep sending a bill with threats demanding a payment collection that could negatively affect my credit score. I already had an agreement with their employees that I am paying on a monthly basis, and I am on the last installment
    payment. As I said before , they had no direct communication among them. Gentle Dental has no professional standard; not a class working place.
    The only positive thing are the Assistants and the Dentist, they are a friendly staff . But the clerks and receptionists are the worst employees.
    I will advice people not to visit Gentle Dental.
    I have seen the bad reviews on the site regarding Gentle Dental .

    Terrible Long Wait Time Poor Communication Waste of Time

    Terrible, I do not recommend. I had to come twice because the first time they could only do an x-Ray, and then, the second appointment would be the actual cleaning. I waited for about 2 hours!!!Second appointment they told me to rinse with some solution and made it seem like I would be getting my teeth cleaned. Then, they told me I would need to come back in another month because they needed approval for my insurance. Why couldn’t they have mentioned this before I can all the way down there? I don’t live close by either so it was a waste of time. The whole process is dumb and pointless, and have never had such a terrible experience in a dentist office. All the other negative comments are not exaggerating, it’s true. Take these things in to account before deciding to go here.
