Beware potentially fraudulent billing practices. The insurance i have is a discount dental insurance. It isn't a you pay a copay, then they bill your insurance, and if there is something else due they bill you if the insurance says its your responsibility kind of insurance. I paid in full at the time of my visit in April. In October I got a collection letter in my partners name who had never been to the office. I have never received a bill, email, or a phone call from them about an amount due. I called the office to speak to someone and the person I talked to said no one from billing was available and someone would call me back. They also said not to worry the last time this happened it was not even a valid charge they had made a mistake. I never received a call back. I have since called 5 more times. The only response was a procedure want covered, but no can seem to tell me what. I have requested a copy of their eob and the insurance response to them and they have not responded. Dont expect a call back from them either as they haven't returned a call I've made ever. The next step is reporting them for fraud.

Office is clean. Staff is young n hip.
I went in for a cleaning scheduled back in Sept 2020. They did an initial check up prior with full xrays. They pointed out the xray of a filling and said there was rot underneath and potential root canal/crown after filling replacement. Never got the cleaning because they said i needed a deep cleaning (which i could not do because of bp issues).
I sought consultation from another dentist (via virtual due to covid) and my endodontist. Both questioned the validity of the original assessment of said tooth.
Months later, i addressed my bp issues and found another dentist. He found all my fillings intact, his assessment in agreement with the virtual consult and my gums pink and healthy. Just a good cleaning needed. No deep cleaning. Thank goodness for a second opinion, i potentially could have been fleeced for thousands of dollars.

The previous reviews on level of communication with front office staff, i can also agree with. It took them well over a week to get back to me on a billing issue (i shouldnt have been billed) and my records sent to me via email when they said they would send it the end of the day, no problem.

I had a great experience at Dr. Phllips! The front office team was so helpful and welcoming. My procedure done by Dr. Song was very skillful and pain free. I definitely reccommend!

They overcharged me for my wisdom teeth removal by $1,500+!! Took months to get my refund back through my insurance. Please review your bill before agreeing to any services!!

READ THIS BEFORE VISITING! ONE STAR IS BEING GENEROUS!

The other reviewers claiming all these 5-star reviews are fake are absolutely right.

My first (and last) appointment took just shy of 3 hours for a routine cleaning/hygiene visit. I was clear on the phone when scheduling, when checking in with the receptionist, and when first meeting Dr. Patel/staff that I was there simply for my routine cleaning, nothing more. Yet somehow, I needed to reiterate this dozens more times, just to prevent Dr. Patel from convincing me I needed expensive, cosmetic procedures (orthodontics, replacement of ALL existing fillings with “nicer” ceramic ones, etc.).

It was abundantly clear that Dr. Patel (who, worth noting, is fresh out of college) was eager to squeeze every penny from me/my insurance that he possibly could, but I refused to oblige to his unfounded claims, especially since I moved to the area recently and my prior dentist (with whom I established a trusted relationship over many years) was highly accredited, seasoned in the industry, and never steered me wrong.

BUT THAT’S NOT THE WORST OF IT...

Here’s a breakdown of my 3-hour nightmare:

- 50% waiting AFTER being called in by the receptionist
- 20% having my x-rays retaken 3 times by an inexperienced, teenaged tech
- 20% convincing Dr. Patel cosmetic repairs were neither necessary nor the reason for my visit
- 10% cleaning** (had to say I needed to leave for another appointment after waiting 40+ minutes for the hygienist; ultimately Dr. Patel did the cleaning himself)

**Dr. Patel was ADAMANT that I needed an anesthetic injection for my cleaning because my gums were “sensitive” (they aren’t, and I never claimed they were, so he had no reason to believe so). After a long debate, he relented to administering a “topical” anesthetic instead of an injection; I still refused and he eventually forfeited the argument. It was obvious he just wanted to provide some form of anesthetic to profit from my insurance. I’m no stranger to the dentist, and I had numerous complications as a child (none anymore, so Patel’s claims to the contrary were resoundingly false), but never in my life did either of my two trusted dentists even suggest anesthesia for a cleaning.

DON’T FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM!

This has literally been the worst experience at the dentist. Before I begin, I went to a different dentist office and had a second opinion on everything and can confirm that this office has no idea what they are doing.

Here is a summary if you don't want to read everything:
Throughout the whole process Dr Patel did not listen to my concerns. I felt like he thought I was being over dramatic about tooth pain or about how high my crown felt on my tooth. My teeth cleaning was poor and I have to get them recleaned by a different dentist office. Modern Dentistry missed several cavities I had. If I did not go to a different dentist my cavities and oral health would have gotten much worse.

I came in expecting to get a a cleaning and a cavity filled because I was feeling sensitivity and when I came in Dr Patel told me I needed a root canal. The receptionist told me my insurance covered most of it but I will still need to pay $950 which I agreed and had me open a credit card for it.
Then Dr Patel stated he wanted to "prep" my tooth and put a temporary crown so I wouldn't feel discomfort till my root canal appointment 2 weeks later. I agreed and was there for 4 and a half hrs. He had a lot of trouble numbing me so for the majority of the time I was in pain with him trying to work on my tooth and me saying it still hurts and him having to give me another injection. Finally he was able to work on my tooth and put on the temporary crown and did the cleaning. But that is not the end of this horrible experience. My tooth hurt so much more then it did before. I was waking up in the middle of the night with horrible pain and had to be prescribed two different pain killers. I couldn't wait 2 weeks for my root canal so I went to another dentist who was able to refer me to a root canal specialist same day and was covered 100% by my insurance.
When I brought up the price difference at modern dentistry the receptionist said my insurance covered everything. So I opened a new credit card for no reason and was given incorrect information.
I had to come back to Modern dentist to have my permanent crown put on and the crown was too tall. Dr Patel had already glued this crown on before asking me how it felt. It was dramatically tall to the point the other side of my teeth didn't touch. I told the Dr it's too tall several times and he only shaved down a little bit and even shaved down my perfectly fine tooth on the top of my mouth. Still I told him it was too high. He told me he didn't want to shave the crown anymore because it'll make the crown week and that I should try to adjust. I went to work and instantly was in pain trying to eat. It was so tall I could not even eat soft potatoes.
I went back to the other dentist office begging them to just transfer me over which they did. They shaved down my crown perfectly and redid my exam. When he did the exam the Dr was shocked I even had a cleaning because there was so much tarter left on my teeth. He also stated I had 6 more cavities then Modern Dentistry said I did (Modern said I had 1).

In conclusion, I ended up spending way more money to get my teeth fixed by a different dentist after Modern Dentistry did it wrong and had to miss a bunch of work over the last two weeks to do so. Save yourself a headache and do not come here.
