Dentologie - South Loop

I’ve been going to the south loop dentologie since I moved to Chicago 3 years ago. I absolutely love this office! It has a great vibe and everyone is very professional and nice. I never have a problem making an appointment or getting in when I need to! I recently had Dr. Villa take over as my primary dentist at the office. His bedside manner is impeccable and you can tell he is really passionate about what he does. He really takes the time to explain everything to my level of understanding. Definitely recommend! Allison has been my hygienist for awhile now, and is always sweet, easy to talk to, thorough and quick. Having your teeth cleaned isn’t the most comfortable thing, so I always appreciate her!

I've had really positive experiences with Dentologie. It is relatively easy to get appointments, the office staff is helpful and efficient, and the hygienists and dentists are good at what they do. The office is new and comfortable from the waiting room to the exam rooms. They are good with teenagers as well -- my son has been happy (well, as happy as you could expect!) with them, too.

I had my very first crown (shame on me) done this week at Dentologie. Dr. Nye was my dentist, and I have to say that I was pretty surprised at how easy the whole thing was! I went in expecting it to be really uncomfortable, but it wasn't.

The process is super high-tech, from the 3D scanning, to the zirconium oxide cube that gets cut & formed to look just like my tooth (zirconium oxide crowns are much tougher than porcelain and most metal alloys). You can see a pic of my crown being born, like something out of Westworld. Kinda.

When I left, I noticed the tooth felt sort of rough on the chewing surface, so I went back today and Dr. Nye worked on it for about 15 minutes and it was as smooth as my real teeth! Totally pleased with the quality of work and professionalism at Dentologie. Definitely the best dental experience I've had in my life.

All I can say is wow. From the moment I stepped into the Dentologie office it was like no other experience I have had at a dental office before. Everything was very modern and everyone was amazing. The front desk personnel greeted me and let me know my hygienist would be with me shortly and they offered my a beverage in the mean time. I had Allie as my hygienist and it was the best experience I have had getting my teeth cleaned. She was very thorough and explained everything that she saw in my x-rays and made sure that I was comfortable throughout the experience. I left with clean teeth and my next appointment already scheduled. I finally found my new dental office in Chicago and my new hygienist!

I did not have a positive experience here. Dentologie has told me I’ve had cavities, and when I went for second opinions at another dental office (after hearing other stories of Dentologie patients being told they have cavities when they do not) they did not find any cavities. Even after x-rays. Previously I had dentologie “fix” three cavities, I wish I had gone to get a second opinion sooner.

Excellent service all around! I had a quick check-in for COVID screening, and was able to fill out my paperwork ahead of time, so I went right in to my appointment after check in. The dental assistant was extremely friendly and helpful! She walked me through exactly what she was doing and why, all while making sure I was comfortable. The dentist was also very good, and explained everything thoroughly. Even the checkout was great! The assistant explained the charges, what I owed, and available appointment times based on the work I needed. I even got a "goodie bag" with mouthwash, toothpaste, and an extra toothbrush. I've never had a dentist's visit I would consider a pleasure, but this one came awfully close!

It saddens me to leave this review as I’ve been going to Dentologie for about four years now, and generally my experiences have been nothing but pleasant. I’m cavity-prone, so I’ve had plenty of fillings here, and the staff is very kind, including my dentist, Dr. Robert Villa. They truly are nice people. However, my fiancé and I won’t be returning as I feel extremely misled.

I was seen in January 2021 for a regular cleaning and checkup and was told by the same dentist that I would need 2 crowns since I have so many fillings. As a 25 year old with generally good teeth besides said fillings, I was a bit taken aback. I probed to get an understanding as to why there was the need and how urgent this was. I was told they were recommended simply because I have so many fillings and that they should be completed within the next 3 months. Something felt off, especially with the mention of that timeline...

Well, I’m sure glad I listened to my gut. I received a second opinion from another dentist that came highly recommended by reviews and word of mouth and was told I do not in fact need crowns. New x-rays were also required given my original ones from Dentologie were so blurry that it appeared in theirs, I may have a cavity in one area, but in the new x-ray, it’s obvious I don’t.

May I need these crowns in the next 10-20 years? Yes, absolutely. I do have plenty of fillings, but I’ve been told they look great — intact, without stains, and are holding up extremely well. When they deteriorate, we’ll assess the need. Until then, I’m happy to have avoided $2k in dental bills and invasive, unnecessary work.

This isn’t a matter of Dentologie being preventative as they’ve said to other similar reviews — I simply don’t need crowns at this moment in time and very likely, will not even require them for at LEAST the next 5-7 years. To me, recommending dental work that isn’t needed for YEARS isn’t precautionary, it’s incredibly deceptive.

This is the best dentist I’ve ever been to.
Deisi is the sweetest person, so carrying and so nice to the patients.
All the staff are super friendly and very professional. I never felt in rush here.
And of course I can not thank enough Dr. R.Villa for saving me from horrible toothache.

I am absolutely recommending this location. I had a buissness trip which allowed me to visit Chicago. I had an emergency tooth pain and they saw me immediately. I am terrified of the dentist, so having a new oral surgeon work on my mouth was beyond scary at first. However, the Staff was amazing! They provided amazing service, they educated me with my options rather then feeling forced or trapped. During the process they were gentle kept me informed and calm and very caring. My experience from checking in at the front desk, to getting X-rays, to consultation, billing and the oral surgeon was an amazing process. I am considering flying back into town, just to keep them as my regular dentist. Wish they came to Florida. Thank you for everything!

Dentologie South Loop is the best! I see Dr. Robert Villa, and he always provides me with incredible care. A lot of the work I have had done with him is cosmetic, because I have never liked my smile. Dr. Villa felt like a partner with me on my journey to a beautiful smile, and now I finally have one I feel I can be proud of. It can be intimidating to get dental work done when you don't understand the mechanics, but Dr. Villa has always been very patient and broken things down for me in a way that I could understand and feel like I am making informed decisions regarding my teeth. He's accessible and quickly responds to any of my questions and is sensitive to how I am feeling while I'm in the chair, especially after I expressed my anxiety around needles and the sounds of the instruments. Alongside Dr. Villa is a wonderful staff who are smart, skilled at what they do, and make you feel comfortable. Special shout out to Alan!
