Great Expressions Dental Centers - Okemos

I always have a wonderful experience here. Very friendly, courteous, informative. Best dentist office in my opinion.

I would gave it no star if the system allows. I had a filling then later 1 week I feel pain, at first I thought it because of my teeth needs time to adjust but 2 month later, I feel extremely sensitive to cold/hot even when i was drinking water I felt huge pain . Later I went to Endodontic specialist, and I had to do a root canal on that teeth because the dentist at Great Expressions hurt my teeth nerve. The staff at this place is not friendly at all. If you have better choice, find some place else.

The office staff is very friendly. Shanna is excellent at cleaning and Dr. Revis is great also.

The staff at Great Expressions Okemos are always kind and efficient.
Last week, my hygienist, Shana was outstanding. She explained what she was doing in advance, was so knowledgable, and kind.

Wonderful experience!!! The service I received was absolutely excellent, I have not been to the dentist in quite some time and they were very informative and talked me through the whole experience.. highly recommend!

I’ve had the benefit of having great family dental practices my whole life. Unfortunately, with my current insurance, I seem to be limited to places like this. I’ve tried with this Great Expressions for a year or two now, but after my visit today, I’m going to find a new dental practice. Here are some highlights:
1. They charge separately for a single use of fluoride — $25 (I’ve never experienced this before) — and two visits prior, I was told I needed to buy a bottle of their special fluoride rinse (also $25) because I was “developing a cavity” on a bottom tooth. I’ve never had a cavity before, and 6 months prior, they couldn’t say enough about how healthy and wonderful my teeth looked. I was skeptical... but I bought it. Something told me to test my theory; I never opened the bottle, never used the fluoride at home. My next visit? Perfect teeth.
2. I have had a permanent retainer on my top and bottom teeth for more than 10 years. Until coming to Great Expressions, I’ve never had a hygienist be unable to floss underneath it. With my last few GE visits, the hygienist has just asked me if I could please get the flosser in myself ... but this time, the (same) hygienist just stabbed my gums repeatedly, and eventually gave up — leaving half of my top teeth unflossed, as if I wouldn’t notice. I did notice, but the dentist didn’t. Whoops.
3. Dentist says, teeth look great! Oh, by the way, we’re going to schedule you another appointment to get a filling for that cavity. “Um, which cavity? Which tooth?” I ask, pretty confused. Yeah, it’s a different tooth from the first pretend cavity he found. And if he did find my very first cavity in 30 years, I would hope he would say more about it, not just upsell me another service as he’s walking away.
4. I also took my husband and toddler there today. Instead of talking to the 3-year-old and explaining what was going to happen before doing it, the hygienist just rushed through everything. He’s pretty great at getting his teeth brushed at home, but he was pretty upset about the noise of the instruments and the feeling in his mouth, and cried. Not learning anything so far, she didn’t ask us about fluoride preference, just jammed the paintbrush in his mouth and I watched in horror as he basically ate it all, crying and miserable. His appointment was scheduled at the same time as my husband’s, who wasn’t anywhere near done when they finished with my son and needed to call me back. We had specifically asked to be scheduled so that one parent could be with him while the other was being seen, but now, the toddler needed to sit by himself with a mouth full of bad taste and somehow console himself while mom & dad had instruments in their mouth.
5. When checking out, I noticed they they were charging me for a cancer screening that never happened. I had agreed to the cancer screening, yes, but I guess they forgot to do it. The charge was removed but I was still annoyed.

Overall, you’ll get your teeth mostly cleaned and they’ll take x-rays and have a dentist poke around in there so you can check it off your to-do list, but I think you can find better service elsewhere... we will be.

This dentist's office is sufficient if you are an adult. Do not take your children to Dr. Revis. We had been going there for several years and had never loved it but didn't have a reason to leave. That changed when I took my son in for Dr. Revis to fill a cavity. He is an active 7 year old boy so he was somewhat ancy in the chair but nothing out of the ordinary. When my son put his arm up, Dr. Revis raised his voice and said "You put your arm down. I'm the boss in here!". When my son squirmed a bit while getting the shot to numb the gum, Dr. Revis said very disgustedly "Oh come on, you're not in pain. That doesn't hurt." Dr. Revis continued to make comments like this throughout the procedure. When my son did as he was told and sat motionless, Dr. Revis said nothing positive or encouraging to my son. His assistant was silent most of the time.
Clearly, Dr. Revis does not have the patience necessary to work with young children. A good dentist and his staff recognizes that a child's trip to the dentist can be a stressful experience and requires patience and above all, respect.

We have been very happy with Dr. Revis and his team for many years: very friendly, excellent dental care!
