This is a long overdue review. I had a crown fitted by Dr. Felton in 2009, and it was not done correctly. I tried to make the appointment with Dr. Zahn (now retired, I believe), but his office said he was booked out and would I like to schedule with the new guy instead? I said sure, because I hadn't yet learned to always make sure a dentist has some grey in their hair! (IE, significant experience beyond dental school)
First, the temp crown broke, and I had to go in on a Sunday to have it replaced (by Dr. Zahn, unlocking the office, then flying solo and having me hand him the instruments. That temp held.)
The permanent crown wasn't fitted right by Dr. Felton, and was very painful to chew on. When I called to report it, I was told it just needed time to adjust. After several weeks, it was still painful so I went back in to have Dr. Felton adjust it. The adjustment didn't help, but I was moving out of Missoula and couldn't have it fixed properly. In the eleven years since, I haven't been able to chew on that tooth without pain. I've adapted by chewing on the other side of my mouth.
Just last month I finally had the crown replaced by my current dentist. Voila! The pain was immediately gone and I can now chew anything I want on that tooth without pain or discomfort. I wish I'd replaced it years ago.
I see that Dr. Felton has very good reviews overall, and it's quite likely that he's learned a few things and improved his skills in the years since that botched crown. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. But I would be remiss if I didn't relate this experience to help prospective patients make an informed choice about seeing him. (Hint: check to see if he has any grey in his hair yet ;~)

I had extensive dental work done with Dr. Felton. A front tooth crown cracked off and he had to replace it with an implant. I found him and his staff to be friendly and very caring as I went through the long process. I highly recommend him as I am so pleased with the fit and color of my new front tooth.
