I was referred to Dr. Patrick Hudson by the Washington State “D.E.N.T.” program after an ER visit due to a very bad experience with a dentist a week earlier. I am definitely one of “those” patients who has major anxiety when it comes to dental pain or having to see a dentist… needless to say I am a handful.
The dentist I had seen a few days prior to my appointment with Dr. Hudson was probably the worst dentist I have seen in my life: he spent a total of one minute speaking to me, told me that I had an exposed nerve which was causing the severe dental pain I was experiencing, told me the only way to deal with said tooth was to pull it and he wouldn’t be able to get me in for another week. I started crying because it was a front tooth and I was afraid of what I would look like (as well as people’s perception of me), the dentist showed no empathy or concern for my emotions. I asked if he could please do something about the pain I was in and he flat out told me “No, I will give you something when I pull it.” I was so frustrated and in so much pain that I immediately went to the ER, where the doctor prescribed me an antibiotic and enough pain medicine until I could make it in to a dentist… it was pretty much a band aid, but it did get me through the weekend.
My experience with DR. Hudson was the complete opposite. He was very kind and empathetic. Before he even looked at the state of my mouth, I was put in a private room for a consultation which was very thorough. Not only did he ask about what was going on; he asked what my expectations were and what I felt he could do to meet those expectations. He took me to the dreaded dentist chair, looked at my tooth, took an x-ray, and explained to me what my options were. Not only was he able to save the tooth- he did so that day without an appointment. I could tell that the office was super busy, but this man took time out of his day for me- just so that I would no longer be in pain. I was incredibly nervous, he could sense so, and he did everything in his power to calm me down, including explaining the procedure to me in detail.
I doubt that I will ever go to another dentist. I was so impressed that I made an appointment on the same day for him to do other dental work that I have been putting off.
If you are looking for a kind dentist who not only does everything in his power to fix what is causing you pain, takes the time to talk to you like you are a human being (and not just an idiot with bad teeth), and also goes far out of his way to make you as emotionally comfortable as possible: This is your guy!
Thank you soooooo very, very, very much, Dr. Hudson (The whole office for that matter, they were just as kind and accommodating)! You have honestly made me feel so much better and have given me hope that I can have a beautiful smile again! You will never know how much that truly means to me! You will have a client in me for as long as I have something that needs fixed! See you next week ;)!

The Stars are for the dental assistant who was fast and efficient with the x-rays but otherwise I was waiting for an hour and a half to be seen. Then given a quote that consisted of crowns and an implant....I am disabled on state assistance and you want me to shell out $4900.00 for preventative crowns and a root canal instead of a filling and an implant with bone graft in between the extraction and implant.....WHY DO YOU EVEN ACCEPT STATE MEDICAL IF YOU DONT EVEN DISCUSS A PATIENTS SITUATION AND OTHER OPTIONS OUTSIDE OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT UNLESS ALL YOU NEED IS A CLEANING.

Dr. Hudson is kind, compassionate and thorough - and most importantly, honest. He's fast, good at what he does, and has well trained and professional staff. I appreciate the affordability of his care, and am confident that I'm not sacrificing good treatment despite his competitive prices. Can't recommend him enough.

They were able to fit me in as a new patient the day after I called. Everyone was friendly and nice. They were able to remove a wisdom tooth that was causing me pain that day, and make a plan on how to deal with the others. They explained everything they were doing from x-rays to the actual extraction which was great as I was incredibly nervous.

I needed to get a tooth extracted. Dr. Bailey and the entire staff were very friendly and informative about everything. I couldn't be happier with my experience there. Highly recommend comfort dental.

UPDATE: Terrible staff, terrible communication.

I got a referral from them to another dentist office and they both misprinted my phone number and did not provide their own contact information for the office to retrieve my dental records. Thanks for making me deal with an additional month of overwhelming pain, Comfort Dental.

Great staff, terrible communication.

Needed an extraction. Was told I couldn't be given an anti-anxiety prescription because I am already on an anti-anxiety medication BUT was not at any point told I couldn't use my own anti-anxiety medication.

My appointment was rescheduled a week beforehand from Wednesday to Friday. Then they tried to reschedule it the day of.

When I arrived I was informed that my anti-anxiety medication means they can't use nitrous for my extractions. They had two weeks to tell me this, but didn't.

At least their friendly, I guess.

Update: Ativan is in the same class of drugs (benzodiazapine) as those I was offered and then denied.

I had an emergency today, and needed to see a dentist ASAP. (My longtime dentists no longer accepted our insurance, and I’d been procrastinating about finding a new one). Comfort Dental was able to get me in on a cancellation, and Porshia and Dr. Childs were awesome- they made me feel completely at ease, and were able to fix me up in no time! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming, and my daughter and I both decided they would be our new dental health care providers. Thank you so much, Dr. Childs and Porshia- and see you again soon!

Everyone at the office is extremely friendly and attentive. Dr. Hudson listens well to your concerns, shows empathy, and overall is a great dentist. I've dealt with many dental offices where the staff is rude and my teeth/gums were killing me afterward. Not at all the case here! We are new to Spokane and I'm so glad we found such an awesome practice..and so affordable!!

I absolutely love this place. The staff is wonderful. Nicole, Becky, and Dr.Morris are very friendly and very professional (including the lady at the front desk but I forgot her name) They knew how nervous I was going in because I was aware of problems I knew that wouldn't easily be fixed (plus I don't have much experience being at a dentist period) but they made me feel very welcome and relaxed knowing that they would do everything they could to take care of the issues at hand. Plus, they don't mind my crappy jokes. I felt really defeated with my current situation but I'm feeling better knowing I have the help I need. This was my second visit, and I look forward to every appointment in the future. I trust my teeth are in good hands. Here's to hoping one day I'll just be a "check-up" patient.
