I did get my hopes up in regards to fixing my smile being attainable. The staff was nice. Clean. But i wish getting dental work wasnt so expensive. I did feel as if there wasnt many options.

I was excited for my consultation. I did the video consult and the office and Dr. seemed competent. My review is not in regards to the quality of work, as I want to be clear that I never got that far. I went in for my consult and I was asked to sign multiple forms. Normal when you see a new doctor, so no big deal. One of the forms asked me release permission to use my likeness, NAME and all photographs taken so they can use it in print, online and video based marketing materials. They wanted me to and I quote, "release and hold harmless from any reasonable expectation of privacy or confidentiality" associated with my name or photos. IT IS A DOCTOR'S OFFICE. THEY WANT ME TO RELEASE THEM FROM MY PRIVACY OR CONFIDENTIALITY???? Ironically, in the same set of paperwork, they have a HIPPA form stating that they are to protect my privacy.
Now I understand in a world of social media marketing, that lots of doctors who work in the cosmetics will ask patients if they can use their photos for marketing purposes. That is fine as long as it is the patient has the option NOT to share their photos. Here is the thing. IF YOU DON'T SIGN THE FORM ALLOWING THIS, FLOSS WON'T TAKE YOU ON AS A PATIENT. I confirmed 3 times that there is no way to move forward unless I sign off on this, and they said, "correct." So I left.
1) They are likely banking on the fact that people don't always read through these forms. I was told, "we normally ask permission before we post online." Ok, but why would you make me sign away all of my rights on this if you ask me again later? If I say no at that point, I have no rights. I am flabbergasted that people sign this. Regardless or not if they are abusing this, the ethical thing to do, would be to respect a patient's rights to privacy. 2) How terrible that you won't see patients that are uncomfortable having their very personal photos of their teeth posted online?! Most people are coming to see you because they feel bad about their smile and you will only help them if sign away their privacy rights so you can post before and after pictures where ever you want!
3) I was ready to pay cash, up front for very expensive veneers and your incredibly unethical policy caused me to walk out. I am sure I was not the first and likely won't be the last.
