For the most part, I had a good experience at Edgewater Modern Dentistry, their dental assistants are great at what they do and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I do not have any negative comments about their staff. Most of the issues I have are with their billing department. My Invisalign treatment cost $6100. I agreed to pay $4100 in one year, and my insurance would cover $2000. My treatment started in Sept 2021, with the staff stating that it would initially take 18 weeks. But after that 18 weeks, my teeth were still very crooked, so they extended the treatment another 16 weeks. During this 16-week treatment, I was given faulty trays, which extended the treatment further. Unfortunately, this was not a one-time issue. I was given faulty trays on multiple occasions, for which they bear some blame. Edgewater modern dentistry needs updated equipment, most Invisalign dealers have an X-ray/scanner that gets a mold of your teeth, and it is instantly sent to Invisalign. However, at Edgewater, they still use the outdated method of putting putty in your mouth to make a mold of your teeth. This process is hit or miss. Also, that mold is sent to Invisalign by mail courier, which takes a few weeks to determine whether the molds are in good enough condition to make trays. If they had upgraded their equipment, there would have been fewer issues with my trays from Invisalign.
What started as an estimated 18-week treatment turned into a year-and-a-half ordeal, but I was happy to be nearing the end. Unfortunately, this is also when the main issue occurred. One day in December of 2022, I got an email from billing at Edgewater Modern Dentistry saying that I missed a payment of $300. I emailed back, saying this is impossible because I completed my one-year payments in September 2022. I sent her all my information about my completed fees. I got another email saying that she had misspoken and that this wasn't for a missed payment; it was for the new treatment I was receiving. Once again, I told her this was impossible because I had not received a new treatment. I am still receiving the same treatment from my initial Sept 2021 agreement, which only continued to be extended because of the faulty trays they provided. She then said that she had misspoken again and that the actual issue was that my insurance stopped making payments, and instead of the $300 I actually owed $700. I contacted my insurance company to inquire about this. They sent over paperwork showing they had made over $2200 in payments to Edgewater when they initially only agreed to cover $2000. I should say I only went to Edgewater for the Invisalign treatment. I have not received a cleaning or any other service from this company. I emailed the office back, saying that my insurance said they had completed their payments, so if they would like to reach out and talk with them about payment, then that's something they can do to fix this misunderstanding. My next visit to Edgewater modern dentistry was supposed to be the day I made the mold for my retainer. Instead, they sat me down and told me that they would not be fulfilling this service and would send me to collections for just over $100 because they would no longer be providing the retainer, which costs $600. I was blindsided by this and mad because they could it told me this over the phone instead of having me miss work. I have given Edgewater Modern Dentistry all the information to show that I have made the payments I was supposed to make, but they have failed to fulfill their side of the agreement. I told them after that I would report them to the BBB and make a formal complaint with the Colorado's Attorney General so they can be investigated for their practices. If you choose this dentist's office, keep good records because when you call to try to fix issues, they will feed you the "we understand your frustration" nonsense instead of fixing the actual problem. Dr. Line and the rest of the office are very attentive and take their time explaining procedures, pricing, and best paths forward for whatever your situation is. Great experience and would recommend for others looking to get their dental health in line.
