Edgewater Modern Dentistry

I thought I did my due diligence in reviewing dental offices before making an appointment, but I was definitely wrong in choosing this one. Don't be fooled by this whole 'modern dentistry' phrasing. It's really not much, perhaps not at all, different than a chain practice like Perfect Teeth. My x-rays and cleaning were decent overall - not uncomfortable or comfortable, sort of just average.
My issue is with the front-end staff and lack of ability to process claims correctly. If you want to be overcharged, look no further. I looked at my insurance plan's fee schedule and worked out the price. I called my insurance and they worked out the same price based on the diagnosis codes provided by this dental office. Somehow even after my insurance company called them to clarify the pricing, they still wanted to overcharge. I received all the dental work I needed at another practice, at the correct price, and much faster than could have been done here.

I recently saw Dr. Roberts for a concern and had a wonderful experience! She was personable, patient, and honest. She made me feel better about my concern, and I feel more educated about what to look for in the future. I will absolutely continue seeing her in the future!

I never imagined I'd find myself using the word "enjoyable" to describe a trip to the dentist, but I truly couldn't have asked for a better experience here. Every staff member I interacted with was genuine, friendly, personable, and so kind. Ashley went above and beyond to make sure my cleaning was comfortable and low-stress. I could not recommend this place more, and I'm glad to have found it for myself and for my family!

I was a long-time patient of this office as I started going there in early 2012. Everything seemed fine until this summer. They canceled and rescheduled my appointment twice for various reasons like the hygienist having an “emergency”. On one occasion they canceled it only 2 or 3 hours before my appointment. Finally after they called me a third time to cancel my appointment I decided I’m going to find a new dentist. Something is seriously wrong with this place.

I really appreciate how professional this place is, but I can't recommend it. It was covered by my insurance. I went there and they apparently found like $3000 of stuff that I had to pay about half of out of pocket. They were unwilling to just give me a normal teeth cleaning. I was forced into a situation where I was either paying a lot of cash, or my teeth were going to rot out of my face. My dentist apparently got fired. He probably had a good sense of morality. Don't go to a chain dentist. Go to a locally owned practice that is willing to work with you and not just do it for the money.

I can honestly give Dr. Lauren Roberts the highest recommendation. She is so professional and smart. Edgewater is blessed to have such a great dentist. Her personality and manner are impeccable.
