The staff here is nothing but amazing. In the office Lisa and Rhea have always been helpful, and Dr. Deva and her assistant Tera are wonderful. I am happy to refer anyone to Viera Modern Dentistry.

I’ve been going to Viera Modern Dentistry for the past three years, but this review has a strong emphasis on my experience with them the past six months.

I liked VMD. They were friendly, efficient, and seemed fairly honest the first three years I was with them. A notable standout was Dr. Lemus, who is no longer with them.

In December of 2021 I noticed some “red flags,” if you will. A majority of the staff seemed to change and all of a sudden my crown needed replacement. Now to be honest, I did have the crown for a while, so I didn’t think much of it and opted for the $600 replacement.

Six month later is when things started to become more glaring. I went in for my routine cleaning and exam and I was greeted my a hygienist I never had before. We’ll call him M. M was rude, demeaning, and had subpar bedside manner. He made audible gasps and criticized my mouth as he roughly poked at my gums. After some X-rays he told me I was suffering bone loss and needed “deep cleaning” to help my periodontal disease. Then, he proceeded to leave me in a chair for 30 minutes to confer with the dentist in another room. She agreed deep cleaning was the best course of action. The dentist also confirmed that the crown they replaced 6 months prior was not sitting correctly and would need to be replaced. They would do this on the house, thankfully. However, the deep cleaning was going to cost me another $600.

I scheduled the deep cleaning and replacement crown visit. What VMD didn’t know is I also scheduled a second opinion with a private office with reviews who put VMD’s to shame. In short, the second opinion proved to be worthwhile. They confirmed what I thought. VMD was not being entirely truthful. Some of my back teeth did have some borderline 4s, but nothing to the extent of what VMD was selling. The private practice advised that I cancel the deep cleaning treatment.

I returned to VMD to get my replacement crown and with those visits, I became more aware of VMD’s tactics.

1. Many of their posters in the office all surround periodontal disease.
2. The music has commercials that talk about periodontal disease and deep cleanings from time to time.
3. As I was waiting to be seen for my replacement crown, they were selling every patient that walked out of that office a deep cleaning.

This review is way longer than I intended, and if you got to the end, I hope that it at the least helped you make an informed decision.

Get that second opinion.

And Viera Modern Dentistry, if you’re reading this… I know there are good people that work at your office, but as a whole, I don’t trust you or what you sell.

Dr. Deva and her team are excellent and provide a seamless experience for the entire dental visit. They walk you through the process and make sure that you understand exactly what is going on.

My hygienist and dentist were both very kind, considerate and professional. Best dental experience yet!

Overall I had a very bad impression on my first and only visit. The x-ray technician did not know how to use the equipment so we had to take X-rays three times and they were still incomplete. The technician who probed my gums was not skilled and there was a small language barrier. The doctor used the incomplete x-ray images to diagnose a "giant cavity" that would need a crown. They could do the crown in office the next week, which really sounded sketchy given my experience at this first visit. I opted to get a second opinion at another reputable dentist near the "stadium" and they told me that they "could see no reason at all to recommend a crown, as I only had a small cavity which needed a minor filling". I highly recommend looking for a dentist elsewhere instead of Viera Modern Dentistry.

I had oral surgery extraction on June 23, 2022 to weeks later, my flipper retainer was put in and doing the next two weeks my flipper was extremely painful rubbing against my gums to the point I had to go days without wearing it. On Thursday, July 28 I have my follow up appointment with Natalia Besada, DMD and her assistant told me that the surgery area was healing nicely. I explain to him that my flipper was hurting when in my mouth and he also look to saw that my gums twere irritated.. so he referred me back to the dentist office and I waited and Tera Dental Assistant came to my rescue… after discussing with her my situation she took the flipper retainer partial and file down portion that was protruding from the flipper and actually rubbing on my gums… to make a long story short I’m pain-free for the first time in two weeks and now able to wear the flipper with no pain day long.

Tera is an valuable member of the dental team, who contribute to the Viera Modern Dentistry practice and care of patients in numerous ways. I my case alleviating the pain of wearing the flipper on which I’m looking at months or years to come while waiting for the area to heal for potential implants…
