My new patient exam and cleaning was scheduled today (5/12/22) at Viera Modern Dentistry (VMD). I was x-rayed and examined but was offered no regularly hygienic cleaning. The dentist on duty today would only offer me a necessary and one-time deep cleaning program, indicating my gums required such treatment. This is to be followed by a periodontal counseling and four-month regular maintenance appointments. The program would cost around $1100 with my insurance paying $400 and my part $700. The dentist would not allow me to opt for a regular cleaning that my insurance would fully cover.
I have seen a dental office for semiannual regular cleanings and one dental exam per year per my medicare advantage Humana plan and previous insurance for decades. Not one has ever suggested I see a periodontal specialist for care. I brush after every meal and floss regularly. I haven't had a cavity since I don't know when. They encouraged me to keep up the good work!
Finally, if you are a new patient and are expecting at VMD an exam and your regular six-month cleaning; Be warned. I believe no matter what condition your gums are in, The VMD dentist will insist on their deep cleaning program and will withhold the regular cleaning option in order to sell/extract more money from you and your insurance.
I would have none of it and walked out.

I can't brag enough about this place. Never in 35 years have I been happy to go to the dentist. They make sure I am took care of. They got me out in time for my son's appointment and crown in the same day. Highly highly recommend

I LOVE the staff at Viera Modern Dentistry. I found them to be professional and compassionate. They explained everything thoroughly and presented me with all available options for my dental procedure. There was no pressure to pick a particular option, and they made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. They seemed to genuinely care about me. In fact, we laughed a lot during the visit. It has been a long time since I've felt that comfortable in a dental chair. I highly recommend this office.
