Hawaii Family Dental - Ewa Beach

I would give 0 Stars if it would let me. Staff might be friendly to who they pick and choose to be friendly to. My wife says she has always gotten good service and I tried being nice to get schedules, but they have always been difficult to schedule with, even for a dental emergency. They asked me to go to the emergency room for an emergency root canal. I told them all they would do is prescribe me meds. My wife can get a schedule within the same week, and my schedule is always a month out. We have even tried to book schedules back to back because we have 3 kids and try to schedule either when we r all off of if kids are in school. They can never accomodate us the same way HFD in Aiea would. Only reason why we moved is because we moved to Ewa. My wife also noticed this so we are currently looking for a new dentist in the area. They might have gotten good reviews, but I feel like they pick a and choose who they give accommodations to. All patients should be treated equally new or old. If you want a good kids dentist, I feel like Kidshine is a lot better than this place. I wish they would take adult patients too. I would not trust them with my kids because if they treated me and my wife so differently, We wouldn't trust them with our kids. My wife has also tried to schedule in my behalf and my appointments always seem 2 months out. When I was nice to them, my schedules were 2 months out, only recently I called out their discrimination, and boom, appointment within a week. I don't want to get angry every time I have to schedule an appointment. We never had this problem with HFD Aiea or with Kidshine. Only with HFD Ewa. If you are being seen, and are part of the "Elite" group of people they are nice to, then maybe you are in good hands. But if THEY decide you're not, it could all change in a heartbeat. If you want to be treated fairly, do no go here. If you want to be treated without prejudice, do not go here. If you want to turn into the hulk everytime you schedule an appointment, then this is the place for you.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of this office. I arrived early but was not seen until at least 30 minutes after my appointment and I was the only one waiting in the waiting room. I work for a medical facility so I know doctors are behind so that was the least of my concern. What I didn’t like was that the dentist cleaned my teeth(being from Minnesota I have never heard of that before) and the reason they gave me was it was because the hygienist was not in until 11am that day. Had I known that, I would have booked later in the day to receive the cleaning from her. The dentist from start to finish including the exam, periodontal testing and a cleaning, took him a total of 30 minutes tops. He did not floss my teeth which I always expect because well it’s part of the exam and because I have a lingual bar that is hard to keep clean. I also only got one tiny spritz of water throughout the polishing of my teeth and it left me with grittiness in my teeth and plaque in my mouth that I had to pick out several times or swallow. But aside from that experience, the assistant who took my xrays was very professional and had a great attitude. But my overall experience with this office felt jipped and rushed. The office that I gone to was the Ewa Beach location!

I made my cleaning appointment 2 weeks ago, but when I showed up yesterday they had me down for an emergency visit AND wanted to charge me extra out-of-pocket
They pulled shady practices on me last year, when I paid for service at time of visit. 2 weeks later I got a bill. I told her I already paid. She said no, your insurance didn't cover some. I asked why they didn't tell me at the time I was there.
Today I was horrified to walk up and see my chart sitting with 8 others OUTSIDE on the sidewalk!!!
THIS IS A DIRECT HIPPA VIOLATION

My family had a wonderful experience in your office yesterday. We were taken care of from the moment we stepped into the door. Your staff was friendly and explained the details of our care in a thoughtful and professional manner. I’m so glad that we found your office and will definitely be referring people to you! Mahalo!

Reviewing my first appointment here.

I had a braces consultation with Dr. Hoshino. Setting up the appointment was super easy. I'd actually called the Mililani office, but they didn't have an appointment available for the rest of the year, so the nice lady offered to look into the other offices. I'm so glad she did! I was able to get an appointment for the following week at the Ewa location, which was perfect since I live near that location.

The office staff were friendly. Note that the bathroom is located in the shared building upstairs. Ask the staff for the code.

Dr. Hoshino is such a nice guy with a great, kind spirit. I'm so glad that he's my orthodontist. It was such a great experience and he explained what he needed to do as well as the cost.

Precious was my consultant for financing and she was great. Since I was sure that I was going to get the braces, she went ahead and booked my appointment to get them installed for the following Monday. She contacted my insurance company and prepared the final billing/costs prior to my appointment a few days later (Friday).

Monday, I'll be getting my braces installed at the Waterfront location. This has been a great experience so far and I'm sure it helps that I'm flexible about going to whichever location has an open spot for booking.

I'll update my review once I get the install. Highly recommended!!!

I really love this Dental place. I am really not a fan of the dentist at all, but the staff and doctors there are very friendly, and nice. This place is very high tech, and when I go in, they always make me feel comfortable. There is not one bad experience here. I got my first root canal done here, and they mean what they say, I was very comfortable and hurt free. They really knows whats best! Try them out, I promise you wont be disappointed.

Dr. Eng is amazing! He has a wonderful personality and is very attentive. He gave me a new, dental bridge and I couldn't be happier with the results! Even better, there was no pain after. I highly recommend Dr. Eng, his hygienist, and the rest of the staff at the Ewa office. The reception staff are also great!

After going to a private practice for the past 5 years, I decided to go to Hawaii Family Dental Ewa Beach…that was the best decision I ever could have made when it came to my oral health! When I arrived for my appointment I was met promptly by a very professional and friendly staff.

Grace, my dental hygienist, performed my cleaning very thoroughly, proficiently with meticulous detail and care.

Dr. Itomura performed my exam…his attention to detail was on full display when he identified some trouble areas that if not taken care of in the near future would cause me lots of pain and money if ignored. He explained what needed to bone and how we could move forward in fixing those areas.

And Chasity…she was the greatest!! She took care of me from the time I walked through the door till I left. She was very professional, knowledgable, and showed she was a SME with all the technical equipment and interments used during all of my procedures.

Hawaii Family Dental didn’t treat me as a patient…they treated me like Family!! If you live in the Ewa area, and you want your oral health to be taken seriously, this tis the Dental office to go to for all of your dental needs!! Trust me, you will not regret it!!

Had to schedule an emergency visit on Veteran's Day and they were able to squeeze me in. This was my first visit. My tooth was irreparable and it needed to come out as the nerve was completely exposed. My appt was at 12pm and they knew I needed to pickup my child from school at 1:10pm and the dentist did not want me in any more pain. Went ahead with the extraction it was difficult to get numb because of the exposed nerve and I had an extra root the just didn't want to let go. The staff and Doctors were very pleasant and extremely flexible and accommodating. I was only a few minutes late to school so they totally delivered on what was promised.

I had my x-rays, check-up by Dr. English and cleaning by Samantha, and I can honestly say it was a pleasant experience! Hawaii Family Dental is thorough, gentle, knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend it!
