Huebner Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics

Just switched to this dentist and couldn’t be happier! Their staff is absolutely amazing!!! They are so nice and let me watch Dahmer on Netflix while I was getting my work done :) came in for a follow up on my birthday and look what they gave me!!!

I had such a great experience at the dentist here! I've gone through so many terrible dentists in the last five years, but this clinic was amazing! The staff were very friebdly and efficient, and they all made sure I felt welcome and comfortable at a new clinic! Skylar and Ricardo took such good care of me, and I'm looking forward to going back for my next appointment!

This place is incredible. I worked in dentistry for a couple years and even I still get a little shaky in the chair… but Dr. Walker is a sweetheart and has made every visit fast, comfortable and completely painless. Everyone here is obviously very good at what they do and they treat you like family. I’ll never go anywhere else.

Dr.Walker …. Amazing !!! Nothing short of it! I have really bad anxiety regarding dentist. I had a lot of work done over the last few months and I’m glad she was the one that completed the work. I don’t know how much she & the other staff get paid but please give everyone a raise!!!!

It was once again an absolute pleasure coming to see Dr. Walker today. Your good looks and positive energy always bring out a smile for me, which makes the process that much easier. The staff is always courteous and professional with any issues that may arise. Thank you for being such a great dentist office.

I recently relocated to San Antonio and looking for a dentist is important to me but finding one where I want to come back is key! The staff is very warm and welcoming and they make you feel right at home. It’s a very clean office. Thank you for an outstanding visit and I look forward to the next visit!!

1. They serve alcohol...sounds cool and I like for me nail salon to offer an adult beverage but I am not sure how I feel about my dentist offering me a shot of fireball at 1:45 while I wait for my appointment time.
2. My appointment time was 2...the staff was still walking in from lunch at 2:07. They walk in through the front door lobby so I could see them coming in. But I get it, maybe the AM appointments ran long and everyone still deserves their full lunch break
Positive Comments:
1. Everyone was so freaking nice-front desk staff, the X-ray tech, the doctor and even the hygienist (but read my comments below about the last dude)
2. They were very informative and took the time to explain their recommendations
Negative Comments:
My biggest and only complaint is with the hygienist and my cleaning, which was the main reason for my appointment. I first saw the doctor who went over my x-rays and mentioned that I had some cavities she wanted to address. She also explained these cavities were most likely from food gaps (gaps in my molars where food tends to get caught thus creating bacteria). She then explained that the hygienist would be in next to do a gum check, come up with a treatment plan and do my cleaning.
He comes in and before introducing himself says "I see Stephanie likes her candies and acidic foods". I get that I have cavities, but let's not be judgey. Also, the doctor mentioned my cavities were due to another reason besides my diet. (-1 star)
He then explains what this gum test is. My results weren't perfect but weren't bad, like 2 digits off from what an ideal score would be. Based off these results he recommended we do some sort of advance cleaning (other reviews mention this). I really appreciated how he explained what the treatment was and why it was important. He then said they were going to verify with my insurance.
5 minutes later, a case manager comes in to discuss my options. With the fillings they wanted to do and this advanced cleaning (neither of which my insurance would cover) the total would be over a grand. I had to deny. I could not commit to that price without speaking to my insurance. I asked if we could do the regular cleaning. The case manager said she would have to get approval because sometimes the hygienist won't agree to do a basic cleaning without the advance options. She went to ask, and came back to say he would allow.
...I should have ran away at this moment.
I have had pap smears that lasted longer than this "cleaning". It took literally less than 5 minutes and he was very rough. I am not sensitive to cleanings and usually don't have any issues. But it was the worst dental experience of my life.
The way he rested his hands on my mouth was painful; Like digging his supporting pinky nail into my gum. The ultra sonic cleaner (which I have experienced before without complaint) was DEAFENING. It was like he was inside my head. I am not sure if he could control the level it's on but it did not feel normal. He kept splashing water in my face, so much so that I had to stop him twice and his response was "Oh sorry, I am so focused on the cleaning". Really!? You're so focused you can't look an inch over and notice that you're spraying me in the eye. (-1 star) He also said he wasn't willing to polish my teeth because I was "so bloody" and he didn't want to stain me. I do tend to bleed sometimes but never such a profuse amount that I have been told I couldn't be polished. (-1 star)
I am relieved that I only had to endure this madness for less than 5 minutes, but upset that I had to pay $103 for this sub-par "cleaning". He did not take his time, he was not thorough, he was really rough and I feel like I need to schedule a cleaning right away somewhere else.

Corporate dentistry at its worst. Overbooking (long wait times) and a revolving door of staff. In my three years at Huebner Smiles, I never saw the same hygienist twice. They even sent me to Align Dental -- part of their corporate chain -- to deal with overflow. I only remained a patient because a botched filling led to a tooth fracture, resulting in a costly and painful implant. One year later, the implant is finally in but I have pain every time I chew. When I went back, the part-time surgeon who did the implant at Align just shrugged and said, "Everything looks good to me." Well, it's not.

The Vance Jackson office is awesome they made me feel like family. Dr Walker is the best she never judged she took care of me. I highly recommend this dentist office .

Dianna is the ABSOLUTE worst! Such a bad attitude and always on her phone! Will not be going back!!! Rest of staff amazing and the doctor is one of the nicest I’ve ever seen, unfortunately she ruined my experience!!!
