I had an old crown fall out. I called Mission Valley Dentists as they are close to my home. To be honest I only wanted to get the crown re-attached and be gone. I am leery of Dentists in shopping centers, and was prepared for the worst.

I could NOT have been more wrong, DR. FEDOR WAS AMAZING! She is probably the best dentist I've been to. There was ZERO pressure or sales pitch, she simply explained my options and let me choose. I decided to get a new crown, and am very happy; the fit of this new crown is way better than the original. I like that the crown was created right there and everything completed in 1 visit. I felt so comfortable I decided to get a cleaning also, and "Ms Janis" took great care of me.

The front office staff was really nice and took care of all my insurance paperwork. The prices were explained and all my questions were answered. I had a great experience and this is where I will get my dental work done from now on.

So I went here for a routine dental visit. The first time the dentist recommended a deep cleaning. I thought that was strange because I had always seen my regular dentist every 3 months for cleaning. i politely declined and a regular cleaning was completed.

My old dentist uses a camera and monitor to take a picture of the teeth to show me what work needs to be done and why. He also submits the pictures to insurance to prove the medical necessity. This place doesn't have that technology eventhough its readily available. Instead their using their eyes and faulty measurements to determine the course of care.

I went back for another follow up recently and the receptionist demanded that I must have the deep cleaning done asap. She wasnt nice about it at all either. She kept talking about their "liability"blah blah blah. I noticed that she never mentioned my health or teeth. Dental care is expensive and I want to only get what is medically necessary done. This place is for profit not the patient in my opinion.

The next day I saw a dentist elsewhere without mentioning anything. They recommend a regular cleaning and they manually
removed/scrapped tarter. Done.

Greed is real. MV dentist no thank you.

They took care of my teeth, they did not try to scam me like some of the reviews state! They do make recommendations but you have to be smart about your health care read up ask question call your insurance company! I had the best cleaning of my life! The staff is friendly and they made paying easy! I would recommend them! The hygienist on my second cleaning was perfect!

Dr Shaymaa Kamil is an amazing dentist. She is so careful and goes (far) out of her way to protect me from pain, keep me comfortable, offer astute options, try to save teeth, seems extremely knowledgeable and communicates very well. She is very flexible and careful about how I used my meager insurance. She is genuinely concerned about my dental health and motivates me to improve. I could go on....

THEY DID A ROOT CANAL ON THE WRONG TOOTH. They did the one right next to the tooth that was missing a third of it. In addition to that I still had to pay to get the correct tooth fixed. It was either that or remain in pain while I look for another dentist and start all over. After that I went back in to get the crowns and again asked them to do the right thing and at least meet me half way and pay for the incorrect tooth and I would still pay for the correct tooth. All they did was give me a minor discount which in itself is a admission of guilt. So after they declined I payed $3,200 and that’s with insurance and the discount they offered for two teeth. I purposely left my emotions out of this review and only stated the facts so you take this review into consideration for yourself or for your kids that you may consider getting treated. For me it’s not about the money, it’s about doing right by people if you make a mistake. I would have been willing to pay for half as I accept some accountability for not understanding teeth by their number even though it was visually obvious which tooth needed immediate attention. Every single dentist within several miles is rated higher. I should have made a better selection.

DO NOT GO HERE! They are crooks! They will seem great at first as they have a nice looking facility, but will always tell you that you need unnecessary work and over bill you for it.

The first time I went I was told I had 2 cavities which seemed believable so I got them filled. I returned for my next exam 4 months later as they recommended I come in 3x/year instead of 2, and was told I had 4 more cavities. At this point I started to become suspicious and I did not think there was anyway I'd have 6 cavities in 6 months. That more than I've ever had in a lifetime and I practice good dental hygiene.

I also called my insurance company since I had to pay hundreds of dollars for my other 2 fillings and was informed that Mission Valley dentists overcharged me by $200. They charged me double of what it should have been!
When I called them to inform them of this mistake they didn't believe me. It took calling them 3 times to finally get them to admit their mistake and reimburse me by giving me credit for future appointments.

Since I had the credit I returned 6 months later for another exam and was told my gums were inflamed and I had signs of gum disease and needed a deep cleaning that was about $500. I was unsure of this but they scared me into getting it done as they kept telling me if I didn't it would be "neglect".
I am originally from out of state and when my dentist in NY heard about this from my mom he immediately recognized a scam. He insisted on seeing me when I visited home for free because he was so outraged by the idea that I needed this and wanted to check my gums for himself. He checked me out and said everything looked great and I didnt need that unnecessary procedure. He told me that some dentists advised this procedure for people that dont really need it just to make money.

This place is a sham and I am not alone in my experience. I have spoken to friends in the neighborhood who have also had horror stories here. One about her son being informed he had 8 cavities at one visit then got a second opinion by another dentist who informed her that he had 0 cavities.

Worst dentist visit my husband and I have ever had! They refused to do our routine cleaning unless we were also going to pay for thousands more dollars of recommended treatments!!!

Arrived 20 minutes early for our appointment on a Saturday as my husband and I are new patients and we anticipated needing to fill out some paperwork. Walked in to the office said hi to the staff and was rudely told by Glorilyn at the front desk "You guys are really early." Never have I had an office be annoyed by arriving early to fill out paperwork. Was told "well we will be checking you in at your actual time." Husband and I said okay politely and went to sit and wait 20 minutes. We were called to sign paperwork and I asked if she could ensure our visit was covered by the insurance before I signed the financial liability form. She seemed frustrated and said she could try. She looked at my insurance again and in printing off my Anthem Blue Cross insurance statement she said "This is weird. I've never seen insurance like this before. I don't know but it should be covered."

Nevertheless we still agreed to be seen as long as we were able to speak about any additional charges since an exam and cleaning is all that we needed and is covered by my insurance 100%. The techs were great who took our X-rays and they even accommodated my husband with a Spanish speaking tech. My techs name was Abel.

But when it came back to the dentists they were very high pressure salesmen (and women). The woman dentist (I'm getting her name and info emailed to me) started to begin a deep cleaning on my husband without even speaking with him or I about the need to do so. He stopped her as she began and kept saying he wanted a normal cleaning and she said she just needed to do what she wanted. He stopped her again and asked to know the cost. They did the exact same thing to me as I sat in the chair next to him. Both left frustrated that we weren't ready to dive in to treatment without that understanding.

This is the whole point of paying insurance all year is to be able to actually get preventative services covered.

When Glorilyn came back in to present us with our $3,000+ proposed services, we politely said we'd consider but would just get our routine cleanings please. She declined us. She said that the dentists "prescribed" a deep cleaning for us both and they wouldn't do a routine cleaning even though that's all we needed. We asked if she could go ask the dentists if they could please do a normal cleaning and she came back and said they said no they wouldn't unless we wanted to pay for the deep cleaning. I was in shock!!!

Declining people dental treatment when they are perfectly capable of paying for it (or having insurance paying for it) is horrifically wrong!!! Shame on this greedy establishment!!! I will proclaim my experience to every coworker who uses our insurance, every friend who is looking for a dental referral, and will be posting on every possible review source I can find. I will also be filing a complaint with my insurance to remove them as a preferred provider based on this experience and will also be filing a complaint with the American Dental Association and the Commission on Dental Accreditation. All with the hopes that no other patient will have to undergo the treatment that my husband and I did today.

Doc Tina Wan gets 5 stars easy. 24 years as an active duty Navy guy so my expectations were high looking for a new civilian doc. She exceeded every expectation. I actually don’t fear the dentist now. I’ll be back.

After a traumatic accident the day after Thanksgiving, my front tooth was chipped, and I was nervous I wouldn’t find a dentist office open on Black Friday. Luckily, Mission Valley Dentist was open and said they could get me into an appointment in 20 mins. Not only was everyone in the office kind and knowledgeable, but they made me feel calm during was such a bad day. Amy, the office manager, explained clearly my options and pricing helping me not get overwhelmed (she is amazing!). During the process of getting my crown color matched by an outsourced lab, any time I called the office, the receptionists were willing and ready to answer questions.
I feel so lucky to have ended up at Mission Valley Dentist.
