Dr. Bertram J. Hughes, DMD

First visit. Sat there for an hour and a half only to be told that they had insurance issues, saying that I only had medical dental, knowing at least a week and a half ago that I was coming. In other words, I had to fall on my face and break a tooth before I could see a dentist. I called my insurance plan and was told that I could go to ANY dentist and get ANYTHING done including two free cleanings a year. Waste of my time. I should have read reviews first.

The office is clean and modern which is nice. They did a good job with my cleaning and were fast.

I avoid having a ton of unnecessary x-rays whenever possible, so when I was told that on top of the basic bite x-rays they wanted to do a panoramic one, I said that I was uncomfortable with this and did not want to do it. The assistant basically told me I had to. She said they needed the x-ray in order to continue with my care. When I asked another doctor about this I was told that this was illegal, and you never need to get any x-ray you don't want, and that they can't refuse service on those grounds.

One of the best dental experiences I've ever had in my life. Friendly and supportive staff, and a dentist that gives educational information while performing quality care. Would absolutely recommend to any friends and family in need of dental work.

My son went there with a lot of pain in one tooth. They didn’t even X-ray it or fill it. They also could not work him in till next week to treat it. We went to another dentist who x-rayed it immediately. He has to have a root canal and they gave him meds and will also start the process this Thursday. We won’t be back to Dr. Hughes.

Dude has a screw loose. Arrived for a cleaning. First had to watch an educational video for 12 year olds. Then I was asked about a spinal surgery I had had years before, and this dentist would not clean my teeth until my MD certified it was safe for me to sit in a dental chair. He refused to clean my teeth and wanted me to pay for this appointment and make another to have my teeth cleaned. I walked out and the dentist called the police to report "theft of service", because I declined to pay the $10 deductible for the cleaning he refused to perform. The Police called me and once the details were know the police officer apologized for bothering me stating "this is not a Police matter". Sociopath Nut Job should be the tag line of this dental practice.

I would highly recommend Dr Hughes. Both he and his staff took great care of me. They were all very polite, helpful and capable. Dr Hughes took care of my dental work quickly and efficiently.

I wouldn’t recommend this man to my worst enemy. It’s unfortunate that he seems to be the only place to take your children if you have medicade and he knows that which gives him the idea that he is better than you and makes it his mission to belittle you and embarrass you in the lobby in front of everyone there. Isn’t discussing medical issues in front of others that can hear a HIPPA violation? Disgusting! Too bad they don’t have a negative star rating!

I have been a patient of this office for several years. When my insurance changed they would not allow me to keep an appointment I already made until they received the list of new patients in the mail. The appointment was scheduled for two weeks away. I asked if they could call to confirm and I was told this is not office policy. I then called and confirmed myself and called back to question the policy. Most health providers will contact your insurance company to confirm coverage. I was told that if I do not want to abide by office policy, I can find a new dentist, and then hung up on. I found a new dentist.

Want your kid intimidated, held down, forced into procedures they didn't need, against their will and without your informed consent? Watch out for this dentist! They do not allow parents to go back with the child, not even for the first visit or a "routine cleaning." As an educated, informed parent I have learned that this practice is used to treating children poorly. They know that the child will not know any better, and the parent isn't allowed to be present to protect them. My child has had nothing but positive experiences at our previous dentist in Atlanta, and I am shocked that this dentist is allowed to practice. We'll be taking our business elsewhere, to a dentist who respects children, parents, and works with them to provide quality dental care and trust.

Very caring staff who is patient. Dr Hughes answers your questions and is very gentle and makes you laugh. My 2 boys 16 & 17 feel comfortable here!!! Highly recommend!!!
