Mortenson Family Dental

This dental practice gets 5 stars from me. All of my visits have been excellent and I highly recommend Dr.Walker who has taken wonderful care of me. I never feel rushed in my appointments and everything they do is completely explained beforehand, so I will understand exactly what my treatment plan involves. I'm 63 years old and I have had dental treatment at several other places---but this practice is the best one I have been to. I just wish I had found them first.

Had teeth pulled here, staff and doctor was very nice quick and for someone that was a first timer getting a good deal of work done. It was the best i could say i could have had it. I was made comfortable. The nurse's as well as the doctor explained and detailed everything very good helping me repare. In and out within hours with minimal pain...

I have never enjoyed the dentist, not due to pain, but the feeling of judgement and always feeling helpless-stuck with ugly teeth/smile afterwards. THE VALLEY STATION location , Heather & Latoya?? (i may have her assistants name wrong), has been the only enviroment-people that has made me NOT FEEL LIKE LESS OF A PERSON!
My teeth will probably never be perfect, but i finally have options for improvement from people that are genuine and kind! And sometimes you get that feeling from an office with the sacrifice of out dated equipment and technology. But thats not the case here. I cant be thankful enough that I made the extra drive to come here months ago. I highly recommend anybody who can relate to my past state of mind to go here and ask for them.

I would never imagined myself to be looking forward and eager for dentist appointments like I am now! Im in my late 30s and this is a first for me! I FINALLY feel HOPEFUL that somebody I will be able to TAKE A PIC WITH MY DAUGHTERS AND HAVE AN OPEN SMILE!!

I love it Here. He is so informative and friendly. He explained why I needed what I needed and it seemed genuine and not like it was about money but about the best care and what’s right for you. I can tell he’s passionate and loves what he does. I will come here forever!!!!

Dr. Walker and her assistant were as always, phenomenal. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that when I checked in at the front desk, the young lady was going to give me paperwork to update, I let her know that I was there just as few weeks ago. She said it probably wasn't scanned in yet. Ok. She'll tell I'm there. 25 minutes later she calls me up asking for my paperwork. I said again, that I had turned it in on the last visit. Oh ok. I was sitting for all that time in pain with what turned out to be a dry socket from a tooth extraction a couple of weeks prior.

Absolutely fabulous experience. Very caring and professional staff. They were able to help me through a little tooth emergency preventing a small problem from becoming a much bigger one. Highly recommend the next time you need help keeping your smile the best it can be.

I had my teeth cleaned . Awesome young lady that cleaned them. Dr walker is fantastic. The ladies at front desk are awesome.

The staff is always friendly and seems knowledgeable. The prices sometimes seem a tad bit high, but sometimes you get what you pay for. The wait once you get in the back can take a while, but in the Covid era, patience is needed. Overall, I recommend this location due to the competence of the staff.

My initial experience with Mortenson was a very positive one. I first went to them in 2018 for a check up and routine cleaning. They completed x-rays and said my teeth were overall in good condition. In spring of 2019 I went back for a cleaning and the dentist (a different one than the first visit) said that I had teeth in all quadrants that needed to be filled. Seemed odd that that much could change in a year but I went ahead and scheduled the fillings anyway. When I went in to get this completed, the dentist was only in the room for what seemed like a few minutes at a time before moving on to other patients. This wouldn't have bothered me had they done good work. Unfortunately though, the work was completed largely by a hygienist who admitted that they were her first fillings. This was a little worrisome. Upon said hygienist completing the work, the dentist came back in to check on the progress only to say that she hadn't finished drilling that tooth out. The dentist then had to redrill the tooth out to later get it filled again. I was experiencing a good deal of pain and discomfort for several weeks afterwards so I went in and a hygienist shaved down the fillings so they wouldn't bump into/rub against each other as much. Unfortunately though, I was unable to chew with one side of my mouth for several months and was still in pain. After this experience, I went to another, more veteran dentist in Louisville for a second opinion. This dentist looked at x-rays and my teeth and confirmed that they didn't need to be filled. According to her, my teeth didn't have cavities but etchings that could become cavities if not cared for. When attempting to cut ties with Mortenson, they informed me that I owed them an additional almost $300 (on top of around $200 I had already paid) despite being doubly insured because my procedure was performed when their office was out of network. This was the reason I was given after a couple of months going back and forth between my insurances and Mortenson to get the dental work covered. On a more positive note, the ladies that work at the office are very friendly. If you just need routine cleanings done and don't mind a high volume corporate-style dentist, Mortenson may be okay. I would not recommend them for other work.
