Update to my original post:
I’m very frustrated with Aspen Dental and my insurance, but that is another issue! My frustration and disappointment is that I wasn’t told that my insurance wasn’t covering my visit this morning, I had to pay out of pocket! I understand the visit may be necessary, but I should have been told before making the appointment that I would be responsible for it and I could have decided if I wanted to make it! There should never be any surprises, what if I couldn’t afford it? I’ve already taken time off from work to drive here! Frustrating!!!!
The other issue is that I have started the process for an implant, the abutment is done, now I need the crown! The part was never ordered! Why not?! I haven’t been here for a few months ensuring the the abutment took! No issues, they never ordered the tooth and now I may have to go all the way to Camillus to complete the process which is over an hour and half away and I don’t know how long that is going to take to get an appointment!! Very disappointed in the way this was done!
Feel caught in the middle between my insurance and Aspen! What is covered and what I may be responsible for! I should not feel caught in the middle! I know that’s not just your organization, my insurance is at fault as well!
I paid $132 for a consult that lasted less than 5 min and the Dr didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know! Main reason I’m frustrated with Aspen Dental! All patients need to be advised prior to the appointment, who’s responsible for payment, insurance or the individual! I would have declined the appointment if I knew it wasn’t a covered expense! It took me longer to pay for the appointment than the appointment lasted! It was not worth it!
What can be done at this point, I’m not sure! Right now, I just want to get my implant complete!
Signed,
Frustrated and disappointed patient

The staff at my local Aspen dental, truly went above and beyond for me, getting me in the next day. Trying beyond what most would of done to get me approved, for some kind of financial help. The office manager really seemed to want to help me. She was able to figure out some way for it to be affordable for me. For that I am beyond grateful. Thank you Aspen Dental Staff.

I have severe dental anxiety which often prevents me from going. However, every team member through out the whole process was extremely friendly and thorough with everything. I was also surprised with how well and fair everything is priced and broken down. I look forward to continue going here.

From the moment I scheduled my appointment to the minute I walked In the door, I was treated wonderfully by every single person I interacted with. Give all of them a raise because for once I finally walked out of a dental office not crying and feeling horrible about myself. Thank you all!

Honestly I have no idea who runs the place but their way of business is flawed immensely. if you take someone back for their appointment at 8am get their appointment done. They had to open a second kit for my process because they left the room so many times to deal with other patients that my novocaine wore off a couple different times. I'm 35 years old so have been to the dentist numerous times throughout my life and I have never and I mean never had to participate in my own treatment as I did with Aspen dental. I had to do my own suction the majority of the time throughout my process as the assistant left on several occasions to do work with other patients. They took 15 teeth out of my mouth so why wouldn't you want to get it done and over with as opposed to leaving constantly and having to put me through more pain with injections as they did? Terrible in my opinion which is sad bc I had a great experience with Aspen dental up until the procedure. I would not recommend anyone go there for any procedure other than a cleaning. Having said all this my new teeth do look great and I'm healing well so I'll give them credit there.

Positives are online scheduling and friendly front office staff.
I scheduled my appointment online and selected “exam”. My presumption was that their new patient exam would include a general cleaning because it wasn’t listed as a separate option. I confirmed twice with the office staff that I only wanted a cleaning, and they acknowledged it without saying my appointment would be anything else. My exam ended up only consisting of x-rays, looking at gum health, and a short visit with the actual dentist. No cleaning.
The hygienist spent a lot of time telling me that I had the beginnings of gum disease. She said I would need their deep clean and offered one home remedy to do. At the end, she said I needed to come in for the deep clean, come back 10 days after that for the regular cleaning, and then come back every 3 months until she decided I could go on a 6 month rotation.
Checking out with the office manager, she provided an estimate of out-of-pocket costs (~$300) for the two appointments and a cavity filling the dentist recommended. She gave a print out of the estimate, and it was not itemized which seemed odd to me.
I left my appointment frustrated that I didn’t receive the treatment I wanted and felt like they were only trying to find a problem to make money off additional appointments. I declined scheduling the appointments and will seek treatment elsewhere.

I’m in New York visiting my sister and I chipped my back tooth. I have been so miserable because I was in so much pain. I was hesitant to go to the dentist but I just could not stand the pain so I started to look up Dentist’s and Aspen Dental kept popping up when I searched emergency dentist. I made an appointment and went and I have never been so thankful in all of my life! The Dental Assistant, Jacques, was so great and helped me not be so anxious and that made my experience so much better. The Dentist, Dr. Gedamu gave me her diagnosis and what she wanted her treatment plan to be but I wanted an extraction and she was very accommodating and gave me my options. The Office Manager Kristin was very knowledgeable and so helpful when it was time for me to check out. I left this dental appointment so satisfied and I still have to go back for my extraction and filling but so far my experience with this dental office has been great! If I could give triple the stars I would! I highly recommend this Dental Office!!!

From the time we walked in to the time we left, the service was more than I had expected. The check-in clerk, the dental tech, the hygienist, the dentist, and the check-out clerk were very courteous and answered our questions without being annoyed or sounding short. The place was clean and welcoming and ALL the staff were great. I simply didn't expect this type of service, but I am glad my wife and I decided to go here for our dental needs.

I was going to rate one star but all of the receptionists I spoke with were very polite and welcoming. I needed attention for a painful abscess and went in for my first appointment. During the check in process when I had to bite down for a series of x-rays for shots of different angles of my mouth, I had to have it right on the abscess at one point and when the nurse left the room to take the photo a guy who worked there came up and started flirting with her and trying to get her to hug him while I'm alone in the room waiting for her to take the photo, nearly in years. She ended up having to take that same photo again because she was inappropriately distracted. I don't necessarily blame her for that, as she did say "I have a patient". But it was still quite painful and honestly awkward. Then I go into a different room for the 3d scan and she starts and that same guy walks by and she asks him to take over. So he finished a process she started. He was, however quite polite and gentle. When the dentist came in she made sure to tell me several times that I "have a lot of bad teeth" (I am, of course aware of this and expressed my embarrassment several times) She suggested all of this work and asked me if "I was thinking about money" I said "kind of" and she rolled her eyes. She prescribed me an antibiotic and the hygienist came in. I got the $30 mouth cancer screening and she started to exam my mouth with the afore mentioned gentleman. She was annoyed at my gum pain as she is poking the gum between each tooth (I know that's necessary) saying numbers between 2 and 4. Often having him change from 2 to 3, then got extremely frustrated and said "change them all to 4" and left. I told her I brush at least once a day and she said "you act like that's a good thing". Honestly it was an awful experience and at the end I was in more emotional pain than physical. No aspen you're not getting over $19,000 to fix my teeth. I'm not going to take out a loan to be talked to like I'm some kind of idiot low-life while the staff is too busy hugging each other. I'd rather be in pain.
