The Sugar House Dentist

I have seen Dr. David Thorup for dental work on my front teeth. My front teeth did not look very good during my growing up years and I was made fun of. This caused me to hide my teeth and not smile. Down the road when I became an adult, I consulted with Dr. Thorup about doing veneers to help make my front teeth look better and help me feel more confident with my smile. I decided to move forward with the treatment and I'm glad I did. Dr. Thorup went above and beyond what was expected to make sure I had the best results possible. I have never smiled bigger than I have since getting my veneers done with Dr. Thorup. I very highly recommend him!

I enjoy my conversation with Chris each time I get my teeth cleaned and I appreciate the staff's attention to patient comfort and concerns. I have had painful experiences with lidocaine before. (injection usually hurts worse than the actual bone break from as it feels like that part of my body is being slammed in a car door from the inside out). I was very nervous to get a lidocaine injection in my gums. When I mentioned this they immediately switched the syringe and used another drug that worked well for me. Dr. Thorup also called to see how I was doing later that night. Thanks!

I loathe dentists. Like, deep abiding fear and dislike. But Dr Theurer and the whole team at The Sugar House Dentist have gone to great lengths to alter that perception. From the appt setup where they reassured and comforted me to the financial negotiations where they remained fair and accommodating to the actual sessions where they took great lengths to ensure I was as comfortable as humanly possible. Because of my dentophobia, my teeth were in AWFUL shape. Less than 2 months and only a few sessions later, we are almost at a perfect mouth.

I came to this dentist specifically because of his specialty with patients who, like me, experience extreme anxiety when visiting the dentist. Dr. Theurer and his staff are all very welcoming and kind. They made me feel at ease as much as possible!

I had my first appointment today and I was absolutely blown away with how well I was treated. Dr. Theurer and his hygienist, I believe her name was Courtney, both went above and beyond for me. It was by far the best dentist appointment I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

Dr. Theurer is by far the best dentist I've had! Every member of the staff is incredibly skilled and kind. I think every appointment I've had thus far I've come out smiling and laughing even more so than when I'd come in.

I always have a great experience when I go to the dentist! The staff is always incredibly friendly and non-judgemental. (As a self-admitting coffee addict, that is important for sure.) I have never had a bad experience here and will continue to see them for all of my dental needs. Maryam was my hygienist today and she was awesome! Thanks all for being so great.

The Doctor was absolutely amazing! The staff on the other hand treated me terrible. Calling me everything from a liar to a joke. The way I was treated was noticed by a sweet receptionist who gave me the name of the lady, and told me to share my experience and nobody should have to be treated like that. She apologized over and over!! Now publicly, I would like an apology from Brandi.. she was in no way professional or courteous. Because of the experience with her, she has lost more than one client. Shame on you!!!

Dr. Jared Theurer took care of my cracked crown quickly and with a great professional manner. I was in and out with my issue taken care of. His office staff are friendly and I felt well taken care of! Great experience every time!

Dr. Theurer is an excellent dentist, but his staff doesn't measure up to his reputation. I was overcharged twice and contacted them about it both times. They don't even bother responding. The first time, I told them about it over both email and phone. I didn't hear back from them at all. So, I had to talk to them about it during my next appointment. Not only that, when I spoke to them over the phone, they tried to explain me the charge as if it was correct when it was obviously wrong (it was 100% covered). If I didn't know better, I could have been convinced by that and let them keep my money, which is concerning. For my second inquiry (another charge that exceeded my copay), I haven't heard back from them. Not even an acknowledgment that they received my inquiry. I've had other issues such as them making a mistake on my appointment and denying the mistake (I made an appointment to repair a cracked tooth, but they sent me in a room with an oral hygienist, who thought I was there to clean my teeth - not exactly what you want to hear when you had waited to repair a broken tooth), but this is probably enough information to express my concern. It's a shame because Dr. Theurer is a skilled dentist, but all those mistakes and more importantly lack of response for such important mistakes are just not good business practice.
