The best dental care I have ever received! I truly appreciate the time they took cleaning my teeth and going over my dental plan for future visits. I also received a cool goodie bag as well.

After an extended period of time away from my hometown, I returned to Orange Park several years ago. I needed to establish a relationship with a Dentist and responded to an add which featured a nominal fee for a New Patient Checkup. On my initial visit, my first impression was most favorable. Immediately I was put at ease by the pleasant decor, followed by a big smile and a warm greeting at the front desk. Signing in and getting established was fast and efficient thanks to the professionalism of the Receptionist. No sooner had I landed in a chair in the waiting room, my name was called by another smiling face. As I entered the work area it was quite obvious this was a new facility with all the latest technology ready and waiting to accomodate me. I was not dissappointed. The theme of efficiency and pleasant service carried through my entire visit. I left most satisfied and with a "Dental Plan" for future services required.
After several most agreeable visits to correct dental issues that I had ignored for years, I saved the worst for last; or so I thought. I required a new Crown to replace one that had failed after 22 years. Based upon past experiences at other Dental Offices, I knew that a Crown required at least 3 visits accompanied by 3 reasons to miss work. One to prepare the tooth and install a "temporary" Crown. One to reapply the Temporary Crown that inevitably winds up tumbling around inside your mouth. And finally, one to set the Permanent Crown.
Imagine my amazement when I was seated in the chair and a camera wand was expertly waved around my tooth and I watched my Crown being digitally assembled on the computer monitor. From there, my friendly and competent Technician asked if I would like to see my Crown being manufactured; right there; right then. Of course I would and did! 11 minutes later my Crown was ready and very shortly thereafter, completed. Done. Unbelievable. No grinding, chiseling, beating, banging, or otherwise causing a fit. It fit, perfect. Done. One hour and 45 minutes! One visit. Bravo Island Dentistry. I hope I never need anything more than a cleaning from you ever again. But if I do, I know it will be a great experience. Thank you.

Been a patient since '08 and will always recommend this place. They have the latest technology every time I come in. Everyone is so kind and they handle my anxious self so well. Dr. Scales is the man. Everyone has a smile and happy to see you, but I have a soft spot for my tech Jenn. She's the best.

As always, the staff treats you as family. I had 2 crowns done last week and 1 this week. Amanda and Dr. Scales did the crowns and I would highly recommend Island Dentistry so go check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you Vanessa and Dr. Scales! I had a great experience with my first visit and glad to have been recommended to your office. I was impressed with how thorough Vanessa was and professional and kind. Your office was nice and clean, the way a Dentist office should be. Thanks for providing a clean and comfortable experience.

The staff at Island Denistry are always courteous and helpful. Dr. Scales helps put me at ease (hate going to the dentist, even for cleanings) and takes the time to examine and explain everything. I also like the fact that he keeps up on all the technology from checking in, to diagnostics, to social media, etc. He really tries to make the whole process as pleasant and easy as possible!

I have ALWAYS been terrified of going to the dentist. Since my family and I have moved to 3 different states within 3 years, it made it even more difficult to find a dentist. I researched the entire area surrounding Fleming Island to Jax. I studied every dentist possible, their background, schooling, and patient reviews. Before I could even set up an appointment I just stopped by to visit Dr. Scales office. The front desk receptionist and office help were more than friendly. I felt valued, cared for and she listened to my fearful concerns regarding going to the dentist and put me at ease.
I have been there 3 times and must say Dr. Scales is the most caring, most gentle, witty dentist who knows how to treat patients with respect, kindness and calms one down with his sense of humor. I never felt ANYTHING while he was giving me the numbing medicine shots. I also never felt one bit of pain from the dental procedures. I was confident if I did feel anything, he would quickly stop and administer more medicine. He asked often how I was doing, and if everything was okay. Every dental hygienist has been more compassionate, very professional and helpful at trying to calm me down. I was so nervous the 1st time I thought I was having a panic attack and my legs were shaking the whole time! They never made me feel embarrassed. Dr. Scales and his amazing team made me feel safe, comfortable, cared about. Most dentists and their staff usually seem annoyed when dealing with a fearful patient like me. Dr. Scales showed compassion, understanding and provided excellent work on my teeth.
If you are terrified of going to the dentist, this is the ONLY dentist I can recommend. You will be respected, shown compassion and most importantly be able to take care of your dental health. I have so much more work that needs to be done on my teeth, and now for the 1st time will be able to do so.
Thanks to each and every dental hygienist that has helped me. Vanessa was the one who cleaned my teeth and spent over an hour taking xrays, etc. She is the most compassionate, sincere, knowledgeable hygienist ever! The other 2 sweet ladies that worked with me on the other 2 visits, I cannot remember their names(sorry!), but they were just as wonderful(: I am grateful for Dr.Scales and his entire staff. You all work wonderfully together and made my experience EXCELLENT!!!

Careless handling of insurance. Was told I needed a deep cleaning of rear teeth, then brought a print out of my cost of $190. Agreed to have that done, paid and was on my way. Later received a bill for $317 in addition for the same cleaning and a was told it was miscommmunication between dentist and insurance.

While the provider cant be blamed for what insurance covers, they should take responsibility for telling their patient incorrect information while in the chair, as I may have taken a different approach if I was told I'd be out of pocket $500 for a simple procedure.

No sense of responsibility on their part, no offer to reduce cost due to being told incorrect information, just offered a payment plan, gee thanks.

This was my first visit there, my wife and I will not be back.
