Asheville Smile Center

I can't say enough good things about Asheville Smile Center! I've always had a bit of anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist, but definitely not anymore. All of the people here (Dr. Port, Taylor, Lisa, Melissa and everyone else) are so kind and comforting, and they all always have smiles on their faces. My Invisalign experience is going wonderfully, and I always look forward to my cleaning visits. I'm so thankful I found ASC!

Had my first appointment today with Dr. Bower and Chas his assistant. It was fast and informative. My mom referred me here because they were super understanding and kind about her needle phobia. I'll be coming back for future appointments.

So, it was hard to keep this concise and still detail the level of appreciation that I have for the people at this place. If you want to skip the rest and still get the point, here it is: This is the dental practice you've been looking for. I highly recommend Asheville Smile Center. Ok, here goes...

Today I had my first dentist appointment in around 6 years (I know, I know). I called yesterday around 4pm and had to leave a message requesting an appointment as soon as possible. The office closes at 5pm but I got a call around 6:30pm from Taylor who explained that they had phone issues earlier that day so she was staying late to make sure everyone who left a message was contacted promptly. So, my first impression of this office was pretty stellar.

Taylor told me they had a cancellation and could fit me in the next morning. As soon as I walked into the lobby, she greeted me with genuine warmth and then proceeded to give me a tour of the building. Every employee was freindly and the entire ordeal was very impressive. The first chair I sat in belonged to Sonya, who made me feel welcome and calmed my nerves regarding my first dentist appointment in a long time. I don't have dental insurance so she walked me through some options and was really informative and patient with my questions.

Dr. Hernandez came in shortly thereafter and we talked a bit and had some laughs before he even attempted to look at my teeth. He was ginuinely interested in hearing what I had to say and even looked up a product I had some questions about in order to give me his professional opinion. In my experience, it is rare to find someone with such extensive training in the medical field that is still willing to have constructive dialogue with someone who just did some baseline internet research. He was practicle and straight-forward while still being freindly.

Before I left, Cassie stepped in and told Sonya and Dr. Hernandez that she had time to go ahead and do my cleaning which was initially supposed to happen during my next visit. She was awesome. They all were. But Cassie was very gentle while performing my first professional cleaning in 6 years. I imagine it could have been more painful if she wasn't so attentive. By the time she was done, my teeth and gums looked and felt amazing.

To sum things up, every person I dealt with at this practice was fantastic. Best dentist experience I've ever had. I highly recommend this place, especially if you don't have dental insurance. They will work with you and treat you well the entire time. Plus, they'll feed you cookies and coffee before you leave (as long as you promise to brush and floss regularly). Little niceties add up. Taylor, Sonya, Cassie, and Dr. Hernandez: Thank you for making this such a pleasurable experience. I'm glad I found you all.

I never expected to be pampered at the dentist's office, but it happened. From the moment I entered the easily accessible office, I was warmly welcomed and given a tour of the facilities which are beautiful, relaxing, and obviously right up to date technology-wise.(The x-rays were almost pleasant instead of agonizing). Each doctor and staff member is not only professional, but also a delightful personality. Amazingly, I'm LOOKING FORWARD to my next visit.

Everyone at Asheville Smile Center has a personality that makes you feel like you have been best friends for years.

Beth did my initial x-rays and cleaning. I was really anxious for my first visit, but that disappeared as soon as we started talking.

I'd give a run down about everyone I've met at Asheville Smile Center, but we would be here all day. Nothing but great things to say. No joke. There isn't a single bad egg in the bunch, which speaks a lot about the practice itself.

Dr. Port is the kindest dentist I have ever met, and he listens to his patients. My previous experiences were of dentists who tell you what they want to do, and leave you with a mile long procedure list like a mechanic after an oil change. He also doubles as a magician because I didn't feel any of the needles he used to numb my mouth, which I am still very grateful for.

I had my Invisalign impressions done a couple weeks ago, and am waiting for my trays to come in. If you're going for Invisalign, my advice is to not google anything. I googled around about the impressions and was mortified. I found a review about how the goop makes you feel like you're choking as it slides down your throat. This sounded like what nightmares are made of but it didn't happen. It didn't even come close to happening. It sets too quickly for this to actually happen. Dramatic reviews like that are exactly that... DRAMATIC!

Anyways, I highly, highly, highly, recommend this place to anyone with teeth within a 30+ mile radius.

I have never had a more pleasant dental experience... ever. Staff, hygienist, and doctor were all genuinely friendly and willing to answer my plethora of questions. The office itself is clean, beautifully decorated, and smells of chocolate chip cookies. I have to go back in a month and honestly, I'm not totally dreading it.

The absolute best office staff in the world and I hate the dentist! I would recommend them to anyone with dental fear! Gigi is awesome and super fun!

What a wonderful experience from start to Finish!
I have always been fearful of the dentist and let me tell you, I can't wait to built a relationship with Asheville Smile Center!
Taylor, the receptionist, answered my call and you could almost see her smiling through the phone. She was kind, helpful, and sounded so happy!

Upon my arrival, Taylor greeted me with a gift (a whitening kit) then proceeded to give me a tour of the office. Not only was I taken a back at her professionalism (which sadly, is so absent these days....) but the office was so lovely. I was made to feel right at home. I was offered water and or tea which is always nice.
My wait time was extremely short, just enough time for me to speed through a magazine.
Kassie, the dental hygienist, kindly came out to retrieve me with the most graciousness. As I sat in the dental chair (which was also a massage chair) she gave me the option of Aromatherapy, free of charge with several scents to choose from. -What?! This place is awesome!
After asking me about my oral history and if I had any questions or concerns, we then proceeded to the room where they take x-ray's of your mouth. This was totally different than what I had ever experienced. Remember those plates you had to stick in your mouth and bite down on while they scanned your mouth/head? Not anymore! Just one bite on an object and two scans later (at the most two minutes long) and we were done!
Getting back to the chair, Kassie then moved on to cleaning my teeth. She was so gentle and talked me through the whole process and even gave me some helpful pointers!
After my cleaning I met with Dr. Port for a few minutes to discuss my upcoming fillings. He was beyond what I could ever hope for in a Dentist. I has been five years since I have been to the dentist (I know, I know) and he was so kind to have not made me feel bad. He even told me, "I will never guilt you for not seeing a Dentist in five years, you are hear now and that is what matters." He made eye contact with me the whole time and I could feel his love and compassion for his career and his patients.

After finishing up with Dr. Port, Kassie escorted me back to the front desk to check out with Taylor. A complementary bag of fresh baked cookies and two hugs later I was out the door and couldn't stop smiling! From start to finish....my experience was wonderful and I can't wait to tell all of my friends and family! I will be seeing you all yearly and every six months if that is what is best, for I have found my Dentist!

Absolutely fantastic. I had a cleaning and two fillings replaced. Beth and Sonya -- hygienists -- and Dr. Hernandez were warm and funny. I've never disliked going to the dentist, but this practice actually made it fun. Plus they give you cookies. What's not to like?

Coming from Chicago, you are automatically use to certain standards. Melissa my hygienist, met those standards every step of the way. When she wasn't positive about some advice, etc. she brought in Beth another qualified professional to confirm what I was already told, that I was a lost cause --->> I'm kidding (-_-).
Melissa reminds me of Lake Michigan in Chicago. The tone of her voice is like listening to the waves @ the beach, while she attends to my oral needs. I should be paying her directly, it's like therapy. (-_-)
I met with Dr. Bower on my last couple of visits. He has a long and successful career ahead of him regardless of whatever he's doing.
