Black Hills Pediatric Dentistry

While visiting the area from out of town our 3yr old fell and we thought she cracked a tooth. We called several dentists in the area and Black Hills Pediatric was the only one willing to see us and they were even willing to keep the doors open until we got there. Knowing we would be out of pocket for expenses, and being totally unfamiliar with the area it was a roll of the dice for us.

Walking in the door, they immediately made us and our daughter feel comfortable. They did some quick X-rays, the dentist completed an exam, they explained the issue and next steps. Throughout the staff could not have been better. The facilities seemed well equipped and the staff seemed better with kids than our dentist back home. I can't say we will ever use them again as we live 1,000 miles away, but the certainly have the things I look for when choosing a dentist back home.

They were absolutely wonderful! I have a special needs son who is a little apprehensive about needles, and they truly went out of their way to be sure he was comfortable with them and their care. I’m so thankful.

I've been coming here for the past 11 years and the staff always been exceptional with me and my kids. I can honestly say no other place treats you with such kindness. I definitely recommend this place.

Every time we go in there they make us feel very comfortable and welcoming. My son came in yesterday to get his teeth cleaned and the young lady Madi did a great job kudos to her!

my five-year-old daughter had to go back in for a crown they installed six weeks earlier that came off of her front tooth for no reason. We called and explained the situation to the receptionist and she scheduled an appointment and said there would be no charge. My daughter was apprehensive to go to the dentist so my wife told her if she needed anything to just ask the dental assistant to go get her mother in the waiting room and she would come right back and comfort her.

After her procedure was over my daughter proceeded to tell us that she was screaming hysterically for her mother and the dental assistants told her repeatedly to be quiet, calm down, she was going to “wake up the babies” and that they would only go get her mom once they were done but not until she calmed down and stopped crying. When the procedure was finally over and my wife came back she said she could tell her eyes were all red and swollen from crying so much.

Also, during the evaluation before they took her back the dental assistant decided to ask my five-year-old repeatedly (who is raised in a Christian family and taught not to kiss until you are married) If she has been kissing boys because “that’s how you get germs in your mouth and get cavities”. I called and talked to Autumn the scheduling manager and told her the situation and although she seemed concerned and said she would figure out what happened and call me back, I never heard back from her. Several days later, to add “insult to injury” we received a bill in the mail with three separate charges, one for an additional x-ray which my wife said we didn’t want to do but they said was required, one charge for re-cementing the crown, and an additional charge for discussing the procedure with my wife which involved nothing more than talking to my five-year-old about kissing boys. We have a regular dentist who we love and had we known it was going to cost us money to have them fix what they didn’t do right the first time we would have went back to our primary dentist. Take your child to this place at your own risk.

45 minute wait with a waiting room full of kids not being taken care of. Kids jumping off chairs & climbing over all the toy cubes. Staff is usually great but the environment there has went down hill in the past few years. 1 1/2 for 2 kids to get their teeth cleaned!!

First time going here and I was disappointed. I would not recommend this place if you DONT HAVE MEDICAID. We have our own insurance and to get my sons two teeth crowned would cost $2,800, which has to be all be paid by his appointment. We had to pay the total co-pay which was $200 before we left. I think this is ridiculous! Maybe they treat the people with Medicaid better? I felt like it was all about how much money they could get out of us, and not the health of my child. Overall did not like this place!

I take both of my girls here, who are 2 years old and they are fantastic with them! My girls don't care much for strangers but they're so welcoming here, my girls are comfortable with them.
