Long Wait Time Overcharging Poor Service

I absolutely loved going to the dentist growing up. Unfortunately, the only enjoyable part of my experience at Monarch Dental was the extremely kind lady that took my X-rays. Other than that, I waited 1.5 hours during my first apt to have my gums β€œsized” for gum decay (aka stabbing my gums in a way that I’ve never experienced before). I was told that I had the beginning stages gingivitis which would be an extra $250 out of pocket cleaning and $60 medicated rinse after insurance and would take an extra 30 mins. I was told I couldn’t do the filling before the deep clean so I scheduled a second appointment the following week. For reference, I brush my teeth 2-3x a day with a sonicare and floss every other day with no gum issues (sensitivity/bleeding) whatsoever, and came in for a regular cleaning and filling of chipped molar. In my second appointment when I explained that I wanted the regular cleaning done that was covered under insurance, I was rudely refused service by the dental hygienist since it β€œwent against my diagnosis.” I then discussed my β€œdiagnosis” with the dentist who also refused the regular cleaning covered under insurance when he only looked at my chipped molar, not my gums. After 2.5 hours in total spent at this dentist office, I left with my chipped molar, uncleaned teeth, and time wasted. I was more than happy to pay out of pocket for my filling after my regular 6 month cleaning. Don’t waste your time here, they will over charge you and over β€œdiagnose” you for more money.

Poor Customer Service Inconvenient Appointment

Had an appointment scheduled for a cleaning in November, which was rescheduled as requested by the dentist office. Leave work early for the appointment they themselves rescheduled, told them prior to this I had a toothache. Was told both the cleaning and the toothache would be addressed at once at this appointment. Arrived at the appointment, only to be informed I can’t have the cleaning because they have an apparently more important client to tend to first, and I was seen for the toothache so there was no time for the cleaning. Felt very inconvenienced and felt like the staff genuinely did not care. Disappointed as I have been going to different Monarch dental locations for awhile and have not had issues before.

Long Wait Time Poor Service Unprofessional Staff

It deserves ZERO stars however the lobby was clean and warm. The wait was 1hr 45mins to make it to the back and the lobby was completely empty when I walked in. My appt was at 10am. I asked the receptionist was she the only employee because she was checking out patients, entering in new ones and processing payments so I figured that's why it was taking so long. Finally got to the back they did Xrays. Got me to the chair dentist came in did a quick look and recommended a couple of things then said he would add it to the treatment plan. Hygienist came in counted teeth and recommended deep cleaning and come back in 4 to 6 weeks. It's now 12:28 pm and she says hold on a few mins so we can get your plan together. 5 minutes later I feel a draft from the back door and the entire office is quiet. I waited 5 more mins got up walked up front peeping in rooms and it's completely empty. The entire staff has left me in the chair and went to lunch. Only person left was the receptionist. I told her I was leaving and never coming back. 2.5hrs with no service. She apologized and said it was all her fault. I told her the entire time I was there was not her fault. Please do not go here. Do not waste your time. I didn't even bother asking for the treatment plan. I will never be back.

Poor Service Misdiagnosis No Follow-up

This is by far the worst dental practice to go to. The story is to long to tell here but basically they give you the run around not wanting to fix their mistakes after misdiagnosing you. Then they never return your calls. I will never go back.

Poor Customer Service Inconvenient Location Miscommunication

When I arrived for my appointment, there was no one at the front desk and when making appointment nobody told me that I could have completed my paperwork before I arrived and I was told that my insurance would be verified before hand and it wasn't and when the front desk person came to the front desk it took almost 1 hour on hold with my insurance. Also the location in Dallas that I visited is not even open every day of the business week, only 3 days a week. This is not good.

Good Service Unpleasant Scent

Receptionist is always so kind. On my last visit I was serviced quickly and well. However, I wished the dentist had put her hair in a ponytail and didn’t wear so much scented product. As she worked on my teeth her hair fell in my face and the scent was disturbing.

Poor Service Incompetent Staff Painful Experience

Is it possible to give zero stars?

Horrific experience at Monarch Dental - Oaklawn.
First, I scheduled my appointment to get an initial exam and a cleaning. When I showed up for my first visit I didn't get a cleaning because they were short staffed. They should have called to let me know so that I didn't need an additional trip back.
They told me I needed a filling so I scheduled a filling.
When I went back for my filling it was an entire new staff (dentist, assistant, hygenist). When they asked if I had any concerns, I told them no but the numbing stuff took longer to work for me, it worked, just took a little longer. She acknowledged my comment.
She numbed me but started working soon, I told her I could still feel everything, she only gave me maybe 5 minutes before continuing to work. I was not numb for the majority of my filling. Also, the staff that helped the dentist changed three times during my filling. I'm not sure why, but the assistants kept going else where and new people would come help. I got my filling on a Friday. Saturday and Sunday my mouth was in pain and I could NOT chew on the tooth that was filled. Monday when they opened I called the office and asked if it would take more time or if I should come in. They told me to come in. The same Dentist was there but again, a different staff.
I sat in the chair and let her know that it hurt to chew on the tooth that was filled. Her immediate response was "I did my job correctly." I said "I'm not saying you did something wrong, but I'm telling you it hurts, and I feel like I should be able to eat without pain". She immediately starts defending herself that she didn't mess up. She asks me if I have any silver in my mouth from prior fillings. I said no. She questioned me again, and I said I've never had a silver filling before. She looked at her assistant and said "Those are not her x-rays" -I still don't know whose xrays were in my file. They have me go get more xrays to see if the filling was wrong. The lady who did my xrays was nice but pulled me aside and said "why did you even have a filling? without xrays" apparently they had lost my xrays and I'm not sure whose were in my file but I'm hoping they didn't do a filling off of someone elses xrays. After I get xrays the dentist decides that maybe she'll just file my teeth down and that'll fix it. I told her it was still painful, she ignored me. I've never screamed in a dentist chair until this time. She continued to ignore me that I was in pain while she filed my teeth then pulled out a drill. She then goes to get numbing stuff (shot) to numb me. She squirts the shot all over my body because she's not paying attention. numbs my mouth. goes to drill and water shoots all over the place because something isn't hooked up right. Continued to feel her drilling my teeth because she isn't doing something right. She swears she did nothing wrong. She files/drills my tooth for a half hour straight. I left the office with my tooth hurting, still and even moreso now.
I left and called another Monarch Dental to see if I could get a second opinion. They have me drive all the way to Garland. I show up, they refuse to see me because the dentist was leaving early for the day. So they send me to another monarch dental.
Saving more chaotic details.
The filling that the dentist at this Oaklawn location did FELL OUT OF MY MOUTH on Tuesday evening (just 4 days after the filling) where the denstist swore "She did her job correctly".
I will never return to this location, what a horrific experience.

Difficulty getting appointments No cancellation process

We have never had any issues with their services other than trying to get an appointment, which is why I only gave a 4 star rating. It might just be this location, but any time I've had to reschedule it's usually 2 to 3 months before they have another opening. They also don't have a process in place to offer appointments that become available due to cancellation to other patients. Pretty much every other doctor and dentist I have used offers this at the patients request.

First appointment does not include a cleaning, which is misleading. Scheduled to come back for a cleaning, but was rescheduled for a month out. Got called again to get rescheduled for another month out. Never had an issue like this with a dentist before.
