Like most, I dread going to the dentist! After a couple appointments at James River Family Dentistry, I finally am much more comfortable- I don't dread my appointments, so much. The staff are all super nice and make you feel very comfortable; I never have to wait around to be called back and they send helpful text message reminders about appointments, which is super helpful! Facility is clean and modern- there's really nothing bad to say about James River Family Dentistry!

I am delighted to have James River Family Dentistry on my team of healthcare professionals. Each member of the team are essentially friends you are thrilled to have the opportunity to catch up with at least twice a year. Their office is cozy and orderly, the music they play is relaxing, and their in-house therapy puppy is just too precious for words. The whole place makes you feel like you have walked into (Dr.) Marci’s home. You are welcomed by Jessica, who not only knows you by name but has the uncanny ability to remember the details of your life (not just for me! I have seen how she interacts with anyone who walks in the door). The hygienists are detail oriented and constantly ensuring your comfort. Dr. Guthrie is friendly and efficient. She always takes time to catch up with you and explain your status yet has a high value around your time. I have heard her on numerous occasions compliment her hygienist on the work they have done (and she usually compliments me on my teeth!).
If you are looking to build relationships and trust with your healthcare professionals, this is the place to be!

I just went for my first checkup in 7+ years and I was treated with such kindness it's making me rethink my fears of the dentist. I'm actually looking forward to going back. Wonderful crew, each and every one of them. I recommend the JRFD very highly. They also have an emotional support dog in the front office "Marley" who greated me and walked me back to they room. Really really amazing experience. Marley keeps a tight ship.

Amazing service. I love this place. I normally dread going to the dentist but they make it comfortable . The office is cozy and beautiful, feels like a home. Everyone there is so friendly and they offer advanced technology like oral cancer screening and hydrocleaning. They even give you a hot towel at the end!

The team at James River Family Dentistry is absolutely amazing!!!! From my very first visit I have always felt very comfortable and relaxed which is not common for most people at the dentist. Dr.Guthrie and her team provide an excellent atmosphere and make you feel like part of the JRFD family. I have always had a clear explanation of what is needed to be done and an effective treatment plan as well. I will never see another dental office again!!!
