The entire staff at James River Family Dentistry was exceptional from the moment I walked in! They were willing to work me in when other places wouldn't and explained everything so I had a firm understanding of what was going to take place. From a person who has avoided the dentist for far too long, I highly recommend Dr. Guthrie and her staff!

Until my first visit to James River Family Dentistry, I had not had pleasurable experiences at dentist offices . After going through many dentists in the Richmond area throughout my life, I finally found one that is dedicated to high quality dental work and a comfortable experience. I have visited Dr. Guthrie 8 times this year involving major dental work and only have positive words to say about each appointment. Whenever someone mentions dental work or cleanings to me, I always suggest they switch to Dr. Guthrie as her work is superb. Dr. Guthrie and staff are very professional, personable and easy on the eyes. I look forward to every visit knowing that afterwords I will feel better with my smile and on the right track to having a healthy set of pearly whites. Best experience I’ve had a dentist!! I had a traumatizing experience at the previous place I went to and stopped going to the dentist. I lost my trust in dentists. Today, that changed. I felt very relaxed. everyone from the office manager Jessica who greets you with a smile to the dental hygienist Ally who made me understand everything she was doing and what I needed done. Dr Guthrie was super sweet and insured I would be well taken care of. I HIGHLY recommend James River Family Denstistry!

I moved to the area from another state and had to find a local dentist. After looking at reviews for hours, I decided I would give JRFD a try. I was blown away. The staff is so funny, kind, and attentive and I felt more like I was visiting old friends than having dental work done. The hygienists are thorough and SO knowledgeable. They explained everything to me. Dr. Guthrie doesn't just give you a list of things you need done; she individualizes the plan to you and your goals (including your financial ones). This is hands down the most pleasant medical and customer service experience I have ever had. During my dental work, they continually made sure that I felt nothing. Absolutely first class! The office is modern and inviting, and they have an adorable service dog. I also witnessed Dr. Guthrie wearing Minnie Mouse ears and soothing young patients. The staff goes above and beyond. I love this office!!

Dr. Guthrie and her staff are wonderful! Jessica runs the office efficiently and always has a smile for each patient who walks in the door. She does all she can to coordinate my appointments to my schedule. Allie is the hygienist who does my cleanings. She goes above and beyond to educate me about my at home dental care routine and is an inspiration all the way around. Katie assisted Dr. Guthrie during my recent crown procedure and is so friendly and very skilled. The women of JRFD are compassionate, top-notch professionals!

Absolutely love this practice!! Cute and quaint little office offering an personalized experience. If your looking for a warm I professional inviting environment and don’t want to go to one of those “chain” clinics this is the place. From the moment I made my appointment until the time I walked out the door the doctors and staff were all very friendly and helpful and made me feel like they cared not only about my teeth but my overall health. Excellent practice!!

Dr. Guthrie sees our whole family now and I have appreciated so many aspects of her practice. The hygienists I've worked with have been friendly, very direct about what work they were doing throughout the entire process, and answered any question I have had at each visit. I've seen Kristen more than anyone else and always enjoy her energy and appreciate the thorough job she does with my teeth. I have a peculiar schedule and the team works with me to meet my scheduling needs and will often text me if openings come available to see if I can take a spot that might be easier for me. The environment is clean and crisp and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. My youngest daughter even lost her first tooth while sitting in the waiting room during one of my appointments and Dr. Guthrie came out to take a quick peek and ensure all was well! You won't be disappointed for trying out James River Family Dentistry.
