Drove a hour to ankeny...Had a 9am appointment for my 17 yr old daughter who has had nothing but pain and sensitivity from a tooth that was root Canal Dec of 2014. X-rays showed nothing.. however she basically was told she wasn't feeling pain but it was fantom pains.. wrong! So then we were told he could refer us to a specialist.. never did.. however it was time for her teeth to be cleaned..so we agreed to have that done.. yep hygienists flossed her teeth and cleaned them.. and then we waited a ridiculous amount of time for no one to return we finally got up and walked out at 1030am. Hour and a half later of wasted time! Very discouraged! Won't be back ever. Poor quality of service!!!

I never write reviews, but today I visited to get some cavities filled and it was one of the best experience I have ever had. Painless, fast and very professional. I recommend them to everyone!!

Modern waiting area..looks like some remolding going on.
Seen a young female dr for root canal she said she has only been dentist for 2 months she was very professional, fast and informative And i left there feeling great! appt time was at 8 i left at 920 really didnt feel like i was there that long. Good 1st visit!!! And ill be back

My husband went to Hintz family dentistry and they said he needed two fillings had one done there and the dentist made him wait 45 minutes while he worked on another patient and didn’t fill the other. He had them give him the x rays and went to another dentist to have it filled and he said that he didn’t have a cavity!!!

I was in for round one of my deep cleaning, the lady walked me through every step, made sure I was comfortable and didn’t feel any pain. Was in and out in an hour. She was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. Can’t wait for round two!

We had a delightful experience at HFD! My children needed cleanings and one needed fillings, and the staff was just superb, and we were seen in a very timely manner. I was amazed at how beautiful my 8 year’s old’s tooth looked after the filling was complete, for the severe cavity he had. Thank you so much, HFD! 😊

Horrible experience! My son inherited very poor tooth enamel, causing yellowing teeth regardless of how much teeth are brushed. Dr. Tanner shamed him about not brushing and more or less called him a liar for saying he did. My son needed about 8 fillings which he had to come back 3 more times for. I just took him to another dentist who had to redo the fillings Dr. Tanner did and counted 8 more that he missed.
Also, he has two teeth that are occupying the same spot. First they made us go to an orthodontist, which I understood. But our insurance wouldn't cover the work because it was considered cosmetic. The orthodontist even said if it were his call he'd just pull the tooth. He suggested holding off until it bugged him. When it did bother him, we took him in and said just pull it. Dr. Tanner wanted us to go back to the same orthodontist again and said our insurance wouldn't cover the extraction but would cover the orthodontists work. When I told him the insurance company considered it cosmetic and wouldn't cover it, he more or less called me a liar! Won't ever set foot in that place again!
