Don't be fooled by the positive reviews. I don't know how they treat their current patients but they apparently don't care about acquiring new ones. I called to make an appt for a Tuesday but they didn't have anything available. I said I would have to check my schedule and call back. However, the lady on the phone kept pressuring me to make an appt (red flag) and eventually pressured me into accepting a Saturday appt. A few days before my appt, I was contacted via email by the practice manager who asked for my correct cell phone number (apparently the lady who scheduled my appt wrote it down wrong). I provided this information within hours and confirmed I would be at my appt on Saturday so, at that point, they had my email address and correct phone number. That being said, I arrived at my scheduled appt time only to find their door locked! I called the office and was told that "there was no one there to take my appt." She then said that "they had been trying to contact me" because they needed to change my appt time. This was an outright LIE. No one contacted me about changing my appt time even though they had my email AND phone number and I never even received a reply from the practice manager. They obviously have no consideration for other people's time and are severely lacking in organization and communication. I would go elsewhere if I were you. I certainly have.

This office is amazing! They’re always very accommodating if something comes up, very understanding, and all the staff is amazing! From the Front Desk, Estela, Sheila & Mel are always so helpful! The doctors and the hygienists are amazing as well! Recommend to anyone in the greater Boston area!

Being a patient of Dr. Smolyar is wonderful, he not only has an acute knowledge of all the dental stuff but also has a conservative way of treating. I enjoy the staff and the treatment options they help to clarify. I would totally recommend it. =)

I highly recommend this dental office! All the staff here are respectful, kind, competent and go above and beyond. I have been going to this office for the past 4 years and I am happy that I was able to find a dental practice where I can go with a peace a mind.
Dr. Heinstein is a knowledgeable, caring, and ethical doctor. She has never charged extra or recommended any unnecessary treatment. I am satisfied with all the treatments I have had for the past 4 years. She has done fillings, crowns, and other services for me. She is kind, listens carefully, and answers all the questions with care. Also, I am happy with the suggestions about health and hygiene that Dr. Heinstein has given to me.
Recently, Dr. Heinstein was able to identify an infection from the ex-ray and recommended that I see Dr. Agha-Razi. Both Dr. Heinstein and Dr. Agha-Razi are amazing! Dr. Agha-Razi was able to see me within a week and re-did the root canal after cleaning the infection. Before the procedure, he answered all my questions and explained to me the reason the infection had built up over time from the root canal done 10 years ago. I am 100% satisfied with the procedure!

Having used several dentists over the years - let me emphatically say that Dr Millen is an excellent dentist, highly competent medical professional, and a good human being.
I switched dental practices to Gentle Dental as my insurer was no longer covering my previous dentist. I was apprehensive because I was very pleased with my old dentist. I need not have been worried. Gentle Dental is a solid practice where patients are treated with respect and without frills. The costs/co-pays are very reasonable and yet the quality of work done is high.
Very pleased with the work they did on my crown. I would gladly recommend this practice and this dentist to others.

Dr. Alex Smolyar, the head of this practice, is a true professional. i've had some serious work done by him, and i still am amazed by the care, efficiency and creativity in the treatment i have received there. and all these for very reasonable prices. i recommend gentle dental of Boston Tremont at Boston enthusiastically and with no hesitation.

No one "loves" going to the dentist, but the staff at Newbury Dental help to make the experience a good one. I have been a patient there for 4 years and have had extensive dental work done by Drs. Millen and Goldberg and wonderful teeth cleaning by Jessica, one of their Dental Hygienists. Very professional, excellent clinical judgment, and very accommodating. I would rate them very highly. Their location in Back Bay is a plus.
