New patient, first time here was great! From the warm greeting to walking out the door everyone was wonderful. The girl at the front desk was super friendly and seemed to know everyone that came in. Felt like family . My dental assistant was so fun he kept me smiling and laughing through the whole process. I was seen in a timely manner, all processes was explained. I have three more scheduled appointments and am actually excited to go back.

I visited the Aspen South County Mall on May 17 morning for an urgent infection and swelling of my gum. The dentists did the X-ray for me and think it is the wisdom tooth that causes the infection. It is my first time seeing a dentist, so I followed the dentist's advice to schedule an oral surgery to take out three wisdom teeth. And because I am much closer to Aspen Brentwood, I requested a transfer to the Brentwood branch so that I can take the surgery. However, what made me very unsatisfied are two things. First, my new dentist at Brentwood only knew he needed to take out three teeth, but he was not at all aware of my infection and swelling issues. As he told me, there is nothing mentioning about these problems in my last visit report. Second, as the Brentwood dentist made the surgery and found out my wisdom teeth cannot be taken out now because of the severe infection caused more pain during the surgery (the pain cannot be relieved even I was numbed), I realized that the main problem should be the infection of my gum rather than the wisdom teeth. My Brentwood dentist told me that I need to clear up the infection so that he can move on to take out the wisdom teeth. I think the dentist at South County Mall did not seriously take care of my case. My main problem is the infection and it was the most urgent thing I need to solve, but the dentist did not make any help to relieve the pain, only recommending the surgery to take out the wisdom teeth. In fact, as the failed surgery shows, there was no problem with the wisdom teeth and it was not infected. The main problem is the gum infection close the wisdom teeth. If he could evaluate the infection carefully and mention this to my new dentist in Brentwood, there is no need for me to experience a failed surgery. I did not realize the communication within Aspen agencies was so ineffective and irresponsible. Although the South County Mall dentist knew about the infection, he never subscribed to any medicine to relieve the pain, only recommending surgery to me. I am very disappointed about the service.

Had the best visit here today. Was traveling through, had a filling break, needed immediate fixing due to pain and too far from home to see my regular dentist. They gave me an immediate appointment, were very friendly and efficient, and sent me on my way quickly. Highly recommended.

DO NOT GO HERE. This place only cares about your money and will say whatever they have to in order to get it. I was told I needed a $400 cleaning (not covered under insurance) as well as their $100 toothbrush as I had “severe gingivitis.” I also was told I needed a root canal and several filings that would cost $1200. After going to another (REPUTABLE) dentist for a second opinion I DIDN’T EVEN HAVE A SINGLE CAVITY. I also had to get my x-rays redone because Aspen did such a terrible job. The staff was also extremely rude to me when I said I didn’t want to buy their toothbrush and other services. (Courtney at the front desk was nice, the rest of the people there were extremely rude). They will try to force unnecessary treatments on you, fear monger you (they told me I was going to lose my teeth unless I did what they told me), and scam you. I cannot stress enough how bad this place is. Go to a private dentist and not this chain that will screw you over.

I was referred to this location from a former employee whom specifically referred me to this Aspen Dental and to Dr Matts and Paula. She said i should ask for an exception from dr matts given my short time in st louis to follow my new patient exam with a deep cleaning (which i know i needed).

I landed on the 800# without knowing it and 30 min later they said they would ask an exception for me to do a 4 quads SFP (in case it was needed) after my regular appointment and would get back to me.

Since they had not gotten back to me by next day, and my insurance was unable to get a hold of them regarding roster # and adding me as a patient, i called back the office and after holding for what seemed to be too long, I landed on Ashton - unfortunately.

At first Ashton asked me whom i spoke with because she had no record/ notes of the conversation. I explained she was from Jamaica and she laughed and said i must have landed on the general line! Not sure what is funny about Jamaica but.. i suppose for someone who has never left st louis it sounds peculiar.

I re-explained the situation (that I am in town for only 4 days and I was hoping she could ask Dr Matts for an exception to see if they might allow me to proceed with a deep cleaning after the new patient xrays/exam .

Unfortunately for me, Ashton was cold and rude and shut me down saying they dont make exceptions. Clearly i knew that was not true since the old office manager suggested i ask for it…. Plus lets face it, I was simply asking to have a longer appointment so i could do more and pay them more…. I was asking to send them more business… dont think there is anything outrageous about that?!

Ashton almost barked at me and said that it was HER decision and the answer was NO. She refused to ask the dentist; she shot business down for no good reason without apology. She kept interrogating me about why I thought I needed a deep cleaning and i explained about my implant situation and how the last several times at dentists this was always needed. Eventually she re-took all of my insurance info down but never apologized once on behalf of Aspen for dropping the ball and losing the notes nor did she have the heart to ask the dentist for me given my short visit to st louis from california.

Had the dentist been asked and said no, I would have accepted that but Ashton would not even ask. She ruled that office as if she was a queen! Ashton was a disaster. She was munprofessional and had an ego the size of planet for no reason!

When i made it to the office: the person whom called me “sweetie” and “honey” at the front desk (but was younger than me) about ten times in a row was Ashton. She looked cheap and she acted fake. We are not best friends and it wasn’t professional.

A dental hygienist took care of me: she was sweet and professional and took 18 rays for me! She was pleasant and patient!

Then i spoke with the dentist. Not Dr Matts. Suspect that Ashton specifically did not place me with him since i asked for him. The dentist from Iraq, didn’t catch her name, was professional and quiet but listened to my concern and made things right by allowing me to get a deep cleaning that same day, which I appreciated.

I then spoke with someone about insurance coverage and Ashton whom had been informed by then about my complaint, turned around and GLARED at me while I spoke with the person about paying.

Paula ended up doing my cleaning. She was excellent. Fun, happy and efficient!

The overall experience was disappointing only because it started so bad; it left a bad taste in my mouth. Had i not been stuck needing to do this, I would have just canceled after my interaction with “the office manager”… whom clearly has no manners and will ruin that business with her low class attitude.

The whole staff was extremely kind and understanding of my situation. They gave me many options and I was able to pick the best dental plan for myself at that time. They have a great office manager who sat with me and walked me through all my payment options and got me set up with a line of credit and a way to solve my dental problems. A fantastic place overall and would highly recommend this place to absolutely everyone!

I am normally hesitant going to the Dentists, but changing to this office was an amazing switch! Nayla was very nice doing the check up and Laura was happy to help schedule me in with all my restrictions. I am so happy I now have them as my dentist office!
