I went there a few years back, they said i needed $5000 worth of work done! But if I purchased a discount card it would be less. Low and behold I went to see a proper dentist and the work I needed actually only cost me $1500 - which included wisdom tooth removal. He stated what Aspen said I needed doing was bogus.

So the only in-network oral surgeon (OS) my two bit dental insurance have in a 30 mile radius is at Aspen Dental. I normally go out-of-network for my routine dental visits, even though it cost me more. However, since I have no idea what a specialist might cost me I decided to called and make an appointment.

Come to find out that all new patients gets funnel through the Aspen Dental corporate switchboard. The first person I spoke with asked if I had a referral for the OS, I explained to her that my primary care suspect my salivary gland is swollen and therefore I needed to see an OS. She was in the middle of trying to see if I needed to see the dentist first when she attempted to put me on hold we got disconnected. I call back immediately and got a different switchboard representative, I asked to speak to the first person, the new operator instead started the whole process over. This did not upset me at all, it just proves I was routed to a completely differ part of the corporation. While I’m on the phone with her the first person call back. When I told her the other person was calling back, her response was something like, “I got you now.” I got the feeling they were competing for bookings. Clearly these two people were not in the same location. This one convinced me to start with the dentist and if he can’t adequately address the situation he would then refer me to the oral surgeon. Even though I can self-refer, I agreed because I know some places are just like that.

I was able to get an appointment the next morning at 11:00am!! I thought it was strange that she wanted to know if my dental insurance was through my employer or through Medicaid. What the heck does it matter? Anyway my insurance is through my employer, I don’t know if that had anything to do with why I was able to be seen so quickly, I sincerely hope not. Once at the office, one of the question on the paperwork wanted to know if I was happy with my smile (I smell a set-up). Another one wanted to know when was the last time I saw my primary care (why you need to know that), also wanted to know when was the last time I saw a dentist (if you were any good you should be able to tell by the condition of my teeth/mouth{set-up, set-up, set-up}).

I was taken In back by a very nice technician. When she was done with the intake she told me the dentist would be right with me. She came back a few minutes later to tell me the “dentist”, VIKRAMJIT ANAND, wanted her to take a full panoramic x-ray of my teeth. I told I have no problem with my teeth, I have what my primary care believe to be a swollen salivary gland. I’ve had quite a few imaging done lately and was trying not to be unnecessarily overexposed in such a short span of time. I asked if when she takes a panoramic image of my teeth, if that would also include the lump in my upper jaw. Lets just say I can tell I was putting her in a predicament (she seem like a lovely, honest person). I then asked if she can only take the side of the face in question and ensure that would also include the cheek bone area where the lump was? She asked if I would like to speak with the “dentist.” I took her up on that offer.

This reptile passing as human, claiming to be of the medical profession refused to come and address my concerns. He told her to tell me to come back and see the oral surgeon. THAT’S WHO I HAD CALLED AND ASK FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. Needless to say, I left upset. But you know what, I shouldn’t be. Based on some of these reviews, in the end, I’m very thankful that this creature did not touch me. I think ANAND was trying to pad the bill and when he realized it wouldn’t work it decided it wasn’t worth his time to see me. I would not call someone like that a medical professional. Anyone who tries to pad the bill first before taking care of the patient is not to be trusted. If you want to pad the bill at least take care of the patient first. After that it becomes a matter between you and your conscience, but at least you would have had a conscience. Keep smiling :)

Being new to Ithaca, I flipped through google and chose Aspen Dental to try as a dentist. I was told I had 5 cavities, but this didn't seem right to me (I haven't had a cavity in 15 years.) I told them I didn't want them filled and went to Fall Creek Dental for a second opinion. There I was told I had no cavities.

This is absolutely outrageous that a doctor would perform unnecessary practices on a patient and scary. Please be careful with this group at Aspen Dental and realize a second opinion can't hurt.

Since I don't have dental insurance I checked out Aspen Dental. First thing to consider is each location is independent owned - so this review is only for the Ithaca, NY location. Easy to get an appointment, friendly staff and flexible payment options. However; Dr Wilson is less then friendly - actually he's outright rude. But if you can handle an ego Doc - who is good - it's a fine dental office.

I am a fan of this particular Aspen Dental practice. I don't like dentists usually or anything that feels corporate. But everyone here is warm and professional, a good balance. The front receptionist/office manager is a force of nature. I have never seen someone more in control of her environment and what is going on while also being kind, pleasant, and patient.
Also, corporate Aspen sends you a million confirmations which may be annoying but are also rather helpful.

I have severe anxiety when it comes to going to the dentist but everyone at Aspen Dental in Ithaca, NY has been incredibly patient, kind, and comforting. I'm usually terrified to just get a cleaning so when I learned I had to have more extensive work done I was petrified. But everyone there helped me get through it. Each time I go, I feel less and less anxiety. If you are afraid of the dentist, I recommend you go to Aspen in Ithaca. Let them know you are scared when you make your appointment and they will be there to comfort you the second you walk in the door.

They were quick to see me but were incredibly pushy & rude. Suggesting I need braces to "look more attractive" when I very clearly don't need them. I asked about copay before my appointment and they weren't able to inform me of it until after which was very overwhelming. I didn't like that lmao.

I am from out of town and had a crown fall off. I was able to get an appointment xrays and assurance from the doctor he would recement the crown back in place. Staff asked me to seek billing staff collected my $200 and was escorted back to the treatment room. Doctor then rwent back on his word slapped some cemwnt on the crown and said it was a temp fix and I should get a few weeks out of the fix. Less than 24 hours later the crown is back off and surpsrise the doctor is not in today and the office closes at 2. I was promised a call back with a resolution but that has not happened and I am leaving for Florida in the morning. At this point all I want is money back.

My experience with the radiographs was terrible. The plate hurts your mouth, leaves abrasions and makes you gag. The staff wasn't as friendly as they could be and the front office was making inappropriate jokes in front of the customers. I wont be back. Also they tried to peg me with 300 dollars extra on my bill for things that they didn't talk to me about or inform me I would be paying for. I had to ask for an itemized bill to see why my bill was so high. This is an ok place if you need to see someone ASAP but I recommend someone else.

I would not recommend Aspen for your basic dental needs. I spent an hour and 45 mins at Aspen for a scheduled regular checkup and was not able to be seen for a cleaning. On top of that they wanted to schedule another treatment for cleaning that would cost $300 out of pocket. They are like a shady car repair place that try to scam you out of unnecessary replacements and changes to your vehicle.

Aka..it’s been a few weeks since “management” contacted me on here and I still haven’t heard from a real person!!
