I was told that my appointment that I scheduled two months prior was canceled at the last minute due to no dentist available. I was told good luck and search somewhere else for a dentist visit

Disappointed Lack of Dental Hygienist

I was there for a short time and absolutely loved the service and friendly staff. Unfortunately they contacted me to notify me they no longer have a dental hygienist and i need to find another office. very disappointed.

Overdiagnosing Expensive

I went to Aspen Dental for a cleaning, and they do a complimentary full exam and X-rays. Perfect for my stipend Medicare flex card. The exam they say showed several deep pockets up to 6 millimeters deep of periodontal disease with blood and pus coming out and bone loss. I thought that very strange because I never had any pain or discomfort and no bleeding when I brush. The treatment plan was almost three thousand dollars spread over three visits. There was no possible way I could pay for that or even make payments on a credit application they asked me to fill out. I survive on social security alone. They refused to separate any treatments that I could cover with my flex card and refused to give me antibiotics for my obvious they tell me "infection". So I left.
Went to another dentist in town that charges on a sliding scale by income. Their X-rays showed no bone loss, the exam showed no periodontal disease, and "minimal plaque and minimal calculus, well taken care of teeth". The hygienist found no blood or pus and no pockets deeper than 3 millimeters, and also commended me on a job well done taking care of my teeth.
Draw your own conclusions, but personally I think they're frauds. And looking at some of these other reviews they make a habit of over diagnosing and under treating.

Long wait times Misinformation Frustrating experience

Hardly any staff available. Long wait times and misinformation. Very frustrating experience. The receptionist and dentist were friendly and tried to compensate for our bad experience.

Great Staff Excellent Service Helpful with Insurance

Both the office and dental staff in this office are incredible. I have had one good experience after another with the year of pretty significant dental work I needed. Not only that, the office staff has spent hours working with my insurance, as the treatments were being denied when they shouldn't have been. Turned out that the information on the insurance's end was wrong in their (Blue Cross's) system, but the Aspen staff still spent the time to get it all straightened out. Every time I chatted with them, they were incredibly upbeat and professional, even though that had to have been a frustrating process. I drive over to this office from Coos Bay after too many bad experiences here. I will continue to do so, as the atmosphere in this office makes it worth the time. Thank you!

Poor Equipment Unprofessional Behavior Invasive Questions

The front office team was very nice, and so was the worker who did my x-rays and initial scan. It went downhill from there. I was informed only after I was halfway through the x-rays that they did not have a permanent doctor. The one they had was leaving soon and couldn't do much due to limitations.
Their equipment hardly worked. They had to take my blood pressure at least 10 times. They also don't have a manual one to fall back on when their machines do not work. It worked twice and happened to be high. I have extreme dental anxiety, so my blood pressure is always high when going in. I was examined after waiting quite a while, had a 3 minute meeting with a hygienist who was also kind. The Dentist informed me I needed treatment (though she was not sure what kind), but she would not help me until I either went to urgent care for my blood pressure (I have no insurance) or I was able to come in with lower pressure. No matter how I explained that sometimes its just high, its been checked out and I'm fine or that it will never be low because of my past issues with dental visits, she insisted.
I have never had a dentist point out my BP. I have also never had them argue with me when they know nothing about my medical history that is frankly none of their business beyond what is needed for my dental treatment. She continued to ask me very invasive questions while the patient just three feet away could hear everything.
I am very disappointing and upset. It takes a great deal for me to make it to the dentist and I left work early for this as well.

Pushy Sales Scare Tactics Unreliable Records

They are very pushy when it comes to their upselling of services. They tried to use scare tactics to pressure me into staying longer and having unnecessary work done. I went somewhere else for a second opinion and to my relief I didn't need half of what Aspen tried to sell me on.
Also a heads up for anyone transferring out of there. Aspen is notorious for their unreliable sending of records. It took me 3 attempts before I gave up and payed out of pocket for new x-rays.

Miscommunication Inaccurate Billing

Very pleasant experiences here overall.

However, I tried to pick up treatment items for my husband and was told they were already picked up (untrue, as he hadn’t stopped by since his last appointment.)

Then I tried to pay my husband’s bill, of which he told me was supposed to be $25, but it was $128.

I’m not sure why I was told by the receptionist that his items were picked up already, and why he was told an inaccurate billing amount. He had to call them and explain everything, and then I finally left with his additional treatment items.
