Heidi is an amazing dental assistant! She made me feel so comfortable for my procedure today!! I have had many dental procedures done, but I have never had a dental assistant that was so caring! I was in for a long over due cleaning. Christine did a wonderful job. She listened to my concerns and addressed them in a personal, but profenial manner. Dr. Shanks was very kind and offered different options for my continued dental health. The front office staff were friendly and helpful. I am periodontist (gum/bone specialist) in Knoxville, and I am pleased to share that Dr. Shanks and his team do an excellent job in their efforts to manage/treat periodontal problems with their patients. Additionally they have the knowledge, when appropriate, to promptly refer their patients out for solutions to complex dental problems, which makes my/our role as a specialist so much easier and it is so much better for their patients!
On a personal note, I have had the pleasure of knowing Peggy (a hygienist with Northside) for many years, and she is an amazing hygienist!

I did my homework and read online reviews even before choosing Northside Family Dentistry as the new dentistry for our family. (We moved from IL to TN recently after 26 years in IL and left behind an IL dentist whom we loved and who got lots of referrals from us, lol.)
This office is very clean, it's comfortable like home (not a "clinical" feel), the staff is merry and bright (just like a Christmas song), and, if you are thirsty, you can grab a bottle of water coming in or going out their door. The dentist is Dr. Johnny Shanks, and his head honcho dental tech is Peggy, both well-seasoned teammates, along with additional staff.
They are very up-to-date with the latest technology, and, hey, this was only my FIRST visit! I look forward to the opportunity to giving them referrals to help their practice grow even more! :-)

I'm new to the Crossville area and needed a dentist but didn't want to go all the way to Knoxville where I was more familiar with all the services. I checked all the reviews and NFD kept on popping up at the top. CAVEAT: I am extraordinarily picky when it comes to medical and dental services! I'm also demanding because it's MY health and wellbeing at stake. All that being said, I was pleasantly surprised when I turned in my paperwork (completed from and online source). Everyone was very congenial (no surprise there, it's Tennessee) but on a very personal but professional level. My experiences with dentistry is probably not much different from many others and we procrastinate about showing up or making the appointments. I was lead into a very professional, neat and attractive examination room filled with all kinds of high tech "stuff" that I'd never seen in a dentists office before. Everyone was informative, efficient and helpful. My exam was like no other and everything that I saw on the multiple high res screens was explained to me AND I could ask questions that were answered in a way that helped me understand what I was seeing (I should also caveat that I have some medical experience too). It became apparent that I was going to need two crowns. I opted to have it done on the spot so they got right to work. Here comes that needle that all of us love to hate.. . .and then it was gone. The "pinch" that I was warned about didn't materialize and the numbness began to take hold. My dental hygienist "Kylene" got to work placing the temporary crowns in while she softly sung the C&W song that was playing in the background in my ear :-) . OF COURSE I had to tease her about being serenaded in the dentists chair. I couldn't pass that up! Very long story short, this has been an experience a long time coming and they have a customer for life and a one man add agency singing their praises. . . just so long as the music keeps playin' Kylene! ;-)
