Hawaii Family Dental - Mililani Town Center

This dental office is terrible. I went there to have a filling Replace and deep cleaning ( a young PUNK DOCTOR ) accidentally damaged one of my teeth. I Made a complaint to have him fix it but he came up with a story that my teeth just break by itself while he was cleaning it. And try to charge my insurance and co pay out of my pocket which is not cheap. This is a no no its time to go somewhere else with better service and honest dr. I read a few comments below i agree this dental group is a total rip off they want money up front 50% down payment of your next appointment total bill. I would highly recommend HEALTHY SMILE DENTAL in kapolei.

Each time I go to Hawaii Family Dental the staff has been outstanding and very professional. I’ve been to many dentists and only a couple have been as patient, gentle and caring as Dr. Hur. I’m so happy I found them online!

I referred my sister and her entire family to this dental office! They have been coming for about a year and they absolutely love it here. Even my three little nieces love coming to the dentist!!!!! They look forward to their 6 month checkups! Dr Choy and the hygienists have done wonders for my family!!!

I love the atmosphere in Hawaii Family Dental. Everyone is friendly and helpful. My first visit I saw some not smiling faces which made me think "oh no not again," because I've experienced Dental offices with non smiling faces and when you don't smile your tone is not friendly either. But on my 2nd visit the next day, all faces were smiling and I felt so much better. Dr. Lee is very thorough and I absolutely loved my hygienist. I hope I can get her again. I just moved to Hawaii, and was dreading the dental part of my time here, but I must say Hawaii Family Dental I feel much better now.

Everytime I go there staff is very friendly and my son's dentist is absolutely the best very fast and very patient with him. Definitely recommend

Dr Choy was excellent in making me feel comfortable, explaining treatment options and explaining what she was looking at in the x-rays that was taken.. She also looked for treatment options that would fit my budget instead of just presenting the most expensive one. The person who took my dental impressions was gentle and very professional. The staff was super friendly and welcoming.. I would recommend this office to my family. Ps-. not a scary place!!! LOL!!!!!

Let's face it - nobody wants to spend money & time at the dentist office, especially in December. However, we all know it's necessary - I highly recommend Hawaii Family Dental. The great office staff & dentist made it a pleasant experience.

When I moved to Oahu I chose Hawaii family dental for its reviews,insurance,and location.
Their hygienist and dentist I used were great, so I waded in deeper and proceeded with some restorative work and had a couple of crowns. Beautiful! In the meantime I cracked a molar on the other side of my mouth so Doctor Choy fixed me up with a temporary filling as I planned a crown that one anyway but was waiting for the next insurance benefit year. Scheduled crown prep and when the appointment was near I got a call saying that my doctor let the group because of the difficulty of childcare due to the Covid crisis and I would have to pick another.WHAT! I don’t know about you but I build relationships with people and was a bit unsettled about starting new. O.K., let’s move forward with Dr. Hall. Absolutely nothing to worry about, the guy turned out to be great and prepped two molars at once to save time. Cracked the temporary, took me right in and made another. After two more weeks of chewing Very Carefully the permanent crowns were fitted and I’m quite pleased. I give 5 stars!

So far the dental work that is being provided is great! My son who hates dentists actually had a great experience there and I am so grateful for that. My gripe with them is that every time I have had contact with the staff it has been trying. When I called to inquire about how much the next visit would be for sealants I was told just the tax, not an estimate but that this would be the price.

Two days before the appt I get a phone call asking me to change the time of the appt which I did and then out of convenience was told that the price for the next appt will no longer be the tax but a co-pay since the insurance will not cover two of the four sealants. The next day I needed to cancel the appt due to the change in time and having to make a more important appt for my 1-year-old and called. I was then told that there would be a $100 fee for missed or canceled appts not made within the 5 day grace period. Then I was told with the time change phone call that the insurance only pays for sealants every three years, then with the call, I made to change the appt was told that the insurance only pays for sealants once in a lifetime, this shows that information is not being given correctly.

Now, my upset is, let's say I could not afford to pay the change in price that was given to me 2 days before the appt after I had already budgeted for the first price given, I would get penalized for it. I feel they are not transparent in their dealings or conscious of the clients they serve. If they know they have a 5 day period in which a client is allowed to cancel then why not allow them to be able to make the conscious decision to plan and budget their money. This policy is listed in the new patient forms but this awareness does not help the fact that one is not presented with the proper information within a timely manner. Yes, they need to get the verification from the insurance company to have a valid price but why not allow patients to be aware of this and again allow them the time to be ready for such a charge.

Just be aware of this fact when making appts with them and plan to possibly spend more than what was told.
