I have had really good experiences at Laurelwood, however, after spending thousands of dollars there in the last 1 1/2 years, I was told that I would be charged $25.00 re-scheduling fee. NOT HAPPENING! I really like Dr. Ertl and his staff, but I am in search of another dentist. It is a matter of principle!

Dr. Ertl is honestly the best dentist I have ever had. He and his staff are polite and professional. His staff is knowledgeable and they do their best to make sure I'm comfortable and taken care of. They even put on cartoons for my kids when I bring them in. I began having dental issues a few years ago that had gone undiagnosed. Dr. Ertl identified the problem immediately and he and his hygienists have been helping me through. I had an old filling go bad on me - cracked my tooth. Initially I was told I needed a crown, but once Dr. Ertl got in there he told me we could do an inlay to preserve as much of the original tooth as possible (and save some $$$). They were able to complete the work in one visit with the most advanced equipment I'd ever seen in a dental office, explaining and showing me what they were doing each step of the way. They also work well with my insurance company to get my bills taken care of.

On top of being a terrible dentist based on initial visit. This place had me on the hook for another patients bill. They refused to talk about it, said I had to contact their third party. Third party couldn't discuss until it was paid. I paid the bill only to have them send me a receipt and account for someone else. Do yourself a solid and drive to Fletcher or Arden to a real dentist.

Don't waste your time! Although the staff where nice, they are very misleading. I scheduled an appointment to get a limited exam due to my permanent retainer braking. Of course I was out of town and 3 hours away from my normal dentist. This clinic advertises as an emergency dentist. I was requesting that the cement left on the back of my teeth from my retainer be removed. My tongue is extremely sore which is why i couldn't wait till I returned home. The clinical staff where very friendly and said it wouldn't be a problem. Once I was moved to the dental chair a staff member said it would just be cheaper to go ahead and due a cleaning because my insurance would be more likely to pay for it. I asked again.. the cement will be removed during this process. I was reassured it would be removed. So I decided it was time for my 6 month cleaning and agreed. Two hours into my appointment the dentist came in checked my teeth after the hygienist. He gave me options about replacing the retainer. I politely declined and just stated that I wanted the cement removed as its been bothering me. He left the room and didn't return. I asked the hygienist what the deal was. She said "he's not going to remove that cement today. I'm not really sure why because it wouldn't take very long." I was livid.... Basically because I wasn't going to replace the device he wasn't going to help me. I would of agreed to pay whatever my insurance did not cover at the time of the visit. I guess he thought he wasn't going to make enough money off of me to be bothered. This Dentist definitely doesn't care about his patients. I am reporting them to the ADA ASAP.

I have been going to this office for over 2 years. I needed a filling done last year and was ask for my medical insurance to see if by chance anything would be covered. Even though I have dental insurance. I didn't realize by giving them my BCBS insurance card that my next appt for a routine cleaning that they would first file with my medical insurance before filing with my dental insurance. The reason behind this is so they can make more money off of the claim. And I had to pay out of pocket. I have had the same dental insurance the whole time I have gone to Dr. Ertle. When I first checked in for my 6 month cleaning I was told I had a past due amount of 89.00. I was confused as to why. Matt said that they had raised their prices. I was like my dental insurance pays for 2 cleaning per year. If they had filed with my dental insurance and not my medical I would not have a past balance. Matt was very rude and I asked to discuss this with Dr. Ertle. He pulls up this guideline on charges online and tries to tell me that first filing with my medical helps me with my deductible. First off I would never file my routine cleaning with my medical that doesn't cover dental. And it doesn't help with anything especially when I'm expected to pay 89.00 for a routine dental cleaning that is covered by my dental insurance. Why have dental insurance?? By them filing with BCBS first the bill amount charged was 166.00. Every time I have been there when they filed with my dental the billed amount was 61.00. This last appt I told them not to file my BCBC only my new dental insurance and the billed amount for the same cleaning was 51.00. So no wonder they want to ask for your medical insurance so they can bill the highest amount and make you pay out of pocket which is totally unfair. I tried having this conversation with Dr. Ertle. After calling back to the office and Matt saying that it might be a day or so before a return call, 6 days later I called back to be told that Dr. Ertle would be putting a letter in the mail to explain. I said that was not acceptable. Then the unavailable Dr. Ertle comes to the phone. Dr. Ertle stated that I signed and agreed for them the file with BSBC. I said first off I was never aware of that and secondly it doesn't make sense why I would sign for my medical insurance to be filed as primary verses my dental insurance. Dr. Ertle has said to me multiple of times that they gave me a huge discounted rate lol.. Discounted whatever only to have me pay out of pocket for the "free" 6 month cleaning that has always been 100% covered by my dental insurance. So by Dr. Ertle words I allowed them to file the way they did with my medical insurance and they will not refile with only my dental insurance. Very unprofessional that a business would run their practice in that manner. And I do know for a fact that I'm not the only person this has happened to.
Just read a review from Andrew from a week ago about this same issue. This office should be reported for doing this to patients. Very unprofessional!!!

I do not recommend! They misschedule your appointments and then tell you its your fault for missed appointments! No worries...there are plenty of other great dentists who will be happy to take my money!

Always have a great experience here. The staff has been wonderful. Dr. Ertl and Hannah are very friendly and accommodating and take time to explain, which I appreciate. I always leave feeling like I was taken care of.

Dr. Ertl is by far the most talented dentist I have encountered. He practices state of the art dentistry with attention to esthetics and function. His bedside manner is commendable for professionalism and kindness. His dental assistants are also very talented and assure comfortable care. Top ratings for Dr Ertl and staff.

Jon Rea

Highly recommend, the whole team is really exceptional and I felt like I was in good hands from start to finish. I felt very comfortable and yes, I just used "comfortable" to refer to a dental office.

I've been a patient of Laurelwood since 2016. Dr. Ertl and his staff are such a caring and efficient group of professionals!
