Always a great experience with Hawaii Family Dental. Kailey is really good, always makes me comfortable during my teeth cleanings. D and Annabelle at the front desk are lovely and efficient. Nice waiting room with toys to keep the kids occupied. To top that off, they always have my favorite channel, The Food Network, on while you wait for your appointment!

I LOVE THE ENTIRE STAFF AT KAAHUMANU! They are all professional and hard working people who are very good with kids and know what they are doing. I am giving Hawaii Family Dental 1 star because their scheduling is s**t. I love our ortho too...he is only there on Tues. If braces break on a Wed...you are S.O.L. until the next time he is in. It is EXTREMELY hard to get an appointment after school, even though you ask for this months in advance...While I love the staff...I would never recommend HFD to friends or family because of the difficulty in scheduling. Single moms...good luck...

Jesse was my dental hygienist. Jesse provided the utmost respect and care ensuring that I stayed comfortable during my cleaning.

Dr. Thomas provided my initial exam. Politeness in making me feel Important and genuinely happy to know any concerns I might have.

You will be very PLEASED to know that Dr Thomas office has your BEST interest in mind for your dental hygiene needs.

From start to finish we've had wonderful experiences. They talk with you, explain what they are doing, showed my toddler the tools they were using and involved her every step of way. Thank you to all of the staff!

I'm so thankful for Hawaii Family Dental. Everyone there is so helpful and friendly. Of course my dentist is the best, always explains everything clearly so I understand...and I've never had shots that I hardly feel, before! I don't dread going to the dentist anymore and I know they give there best to keep my teeth healthy.

Cleaning and exam this time! Easy and quick. Nice job everyone!

This is an update to the previous review that I posted. The previous one is following this feedback because I'm not sure how this review process works.

Several weeks after I posted my previous review, I still had not heard back from the dentist office. Was thinking of finding another Dentist office. Then out of the blue I get a check from the dentist office for most of the cost of my last visit. Again, I had not asked for a specific amount of a refund. So I'm quite pleased with the amount. However, there was no explanation with the check and so far no followup from the dentist office. Don't know if my review post helped my cause, but the Dentist office did make a proper amends. So I'm changing my original rating of 1 star to 3 stars (average). And, we'll see how it goes on my next visit there!

Previous review: First of all, I rarely complain and ask for compensation. But, terrible customer service. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing...not a good sign for a Dentist office, if you know what I mean. Plus the whole Convid delay of cancelling my cleaning appt, then getting msgs from them to reschedule, I left msgs, no responses. Finally got a hold of them, rescheduled, then canceled again because of a hurricane that didn't happen, so there was no need to cancel. Then more unanswered msgs to reschedule.

Additionally, 4-5 phone calls to get a explanation of a procedure they recommended, again different info from the Dentist and the office staff. Then a billing problem with the my insurance on that procedure from what I can tell from the complicated insurance statement. They said they would help get my concerns fixed if I wasn't happy....well it is still not resolved. Dentist said she would take care of it, NOT! To top it off, now they are saying I owe more than I already paid, and they told me they would adjust my bill to make me happy.

Wondering if these delay tactics, hoping a dissatisfied customer will just forget about it and give up is part of their business plan? And do they even monitor these reviews to help themselves improve...I'll guess we'll find out if they contact me back. Will gladly post again to let you know if they do and if they back up what they said they would do.

As someone who has legit trauma of dental.offices from a young age. I really was skeptical, but the staff was friendly and I've gone in for two extractions in the last 2 years and have decided to go back regularly to get my dental health back on track. I hope more people do the same. I trust them with my son and he loves it there. He gets excited to go and that makes me happy. I hate my dentist due to some stuff he did to me as a kid. But this place is a million times better from customer service to procedures and billing.

Just had my first "crowning". I am 73 years old, so I understand it's unusual to not have had to have a crown before. I was not looking forward to it. (Of course). But I feel very good about the experience I had. It was truly painless, if weird. Dentist and her assistant were so kind and easy to be with. I wore my ear buds and listened to favorite Pandora radio station. Worked great. I recommend them highly.

Since my first "crowning" -- very successful (as far as I can tell so far!) I had my first tooth removal, back lower molar. This was necessary because of gum recession that was starting to expose the root of that tooth. The good news was that I didn't have any pain yet. But as Dr. Mello explained it could "go south" at any time. Dr. Mello and her able and lovely assistant removed the tooth on Tuesday. Now 2 days later --- I just want you all to know I don't think I will miss it --- number one. And also very important to me -- I had no pain and no bleeding after the novocaine wore off and the I removed the pad I was clutching between my teeth (as instructed).

As you can see from my posts here I have not had to deal with a lot of dental work so far in my 73 years. And in order to keep it that way I try to do whatever they tell me. I think Dr. Mello is great. Highly recommend!

I've had a root canal procedure done by Dr Wisotzky last Thursday, and he did a great job. The first time I had the same procedure done years ago, it was really painful and I was kinda scared undergoing the same experience again. Surprised to have endured so little pain. The staff are great, very friendly and accommodating.

All staff great. Appt reminders very helpful.
Docs and assistants are good listeners and work well together.
They immediately respond to discomfort of any kind and do their best to ease it.
All the work I've had done has been good.
The prices are higher than I expected from a group with lower overhead than a private practice.
And the wait for off-island crowns is surprisingly long.
But they take my HMSA dental insurance.
The offices have convenient locations around the communities on Maui.
The Kihei office is like a refrigerator. Cutting down on germs?
Whatever the reason, the chilly temps makes it a little harder to relax.
Patients definitely need to wear warm clothes - as the staff does.
A warning with the first appt reminders would be nice.
Overall good place, with good people that do good work.
