Great experience!!!i had an extraction. I’m uninsured and had to get an extraction. The doctor worked with me the most affordable plan without pushing unnecessary procedures Unlike my previous doctor that add up unexpectedly procedures without talking about the cost. This office was very friendly, very upfront in regards to cost, the dental hygienist and the dentist answered all of our questions, very professional.
I’m very thankful to all the team!
I will continue my dental work with Aspen Dental and will recommend your office to my friends, family and whoever needs quality dental work.

As always I had a great experience at Aspen Dental in State College. The staff is always professional, efficient and at the same time warm and caring. I have never had a bad experience there in the six years I have been going there. Highly recommended!

College students please avoid this place. I went in as a new patient just a couple weeks ago. I thought all was going well until the dentist assistant took one look at my gums and said I had gingivitis. I have not changed my dental routine in years and not once has my previous dentist given me that diagnosis. They may have had a reason to give me this diagnosis, but what they did next was completely unacceptable. They were going to charge me for the gingivitis treatment two weeks BEFORE I was given the treatment. This was not covered by my insurance and I was lured into giving them a large sum of money before I was given the treatment. Luckily, I did not follow through with the payment or treatment. If you are insistent on going here, then at least please try to pay them AFTER your treatment. This is a very predatory practice and I should have never scheduled an appointment with them in the first place.

I went here expecting to set up a second appt to have a crown placed on my broken tooth. I informed them that this was the reason for my visit. Instead, the dentist looked at the x-ray and immediately said "No.
This tooth has to come out". There was no gentle conversation about why he felt he couldn't place a crown on it in order to save my tooth. He could have shown a little more compassion or even have tried to fake a small level of understanding that this was not the news I was prepared to hear. I waited over an hour after I checked in for him to see me. And then he only said a few sentences to me. Other than that, the staff was friendly. You can tell they were a little rushed to get through with each patient. But that's probably everywhere these days.

Not recommended at all. They overcharge you for everything. I had to call them multiple times to get my refund. The cleaning was 100% covered by my insurance but they charged me $200!

Short version: I had to wait forever and a day for very little care, a front office staff member was rude to me, the office doesn’t really respond to calls quickly, and I didn't get the expected care.
Longer version: I waited for about 30 minutes past my appointment time to be taken back. I was given a panoramic x-ray by a lovely and very sweet tech (she was the only positive part of this experience). Another person took a look at my gums and commented on their health. I am told the dentist will be around soon. I mentioned a couple times that I was there for a first appointment and cleaning and received a couple affirmative sounds in response.
During the these brief conversations, sometimes other employees would walk by and complain about how long something was taking or would question how a colleague was doing their job. This came off as rude and a bit disorganized (like they didn’t know what they were supposed to be doing and when).
I waited another 30 minutes. I started to wonder if I have been forgotten and looked around, but few people were around and those that were didn’t look my way.
Then the dentist finally appeared and gave my teeth a quick look (less than five minutes, per usual in my experience).
I found out that contrary to everything I believed, I was not getting a cleaning. So I had waited an hour in total for maybe 20 minutes of actual attention. I don’t completely blame them for this, I had assumed that a cleaning was part of the first appointment and had not questioned that assumption (which would have been hard to do since you had to make your first appointment through their less-than-intuitive website).
So on my way out, I stopped by the front desk to make another appointment. The woman scheduling the appointment was extremely short with me. She asked about my availability, and I let her know. She suggested a day and time when I normally would have been free, but I happened to have another medical appointment that day. I apologized and asked if a different day was possible. She huffed and suggested another day, somehow managing to land on a day and time during the work day when I had an un-avoidable obligation (after I had requested evening appointments in the first place to avoid this situation). She then snapped and told me that I should know when I was available. I hadn't been planning on scheduling another appointment, so I didn't have my entire calendar memorized off the top of my head. I ended up making a random appointment and cancelling it later because I realized I didn't want to go back. I understand that scheduling is really inconvenient, especially when a client was busy, but I was not being rude to her when the times didn't work and I wasn't looking at a schedule of available appointments like she was.
Before this appointment, I had also called because I was experiencing sudden tooth pain and I was hoping to get squeezed in to get it checked out. I didn't get a call back for several days.
While I was there waiting for the dentist, I also felt uncomfortable with how they talked to two different young women who were there for appointments. The hygienists/techs would ask the girls if they wanted this or that treatment (such as fluoride). When the girls responded that they didn’t know because their parent made the appointment or was in charge of insurance/finances, the employee would just sort of push and ask if they wanted the treatment or if they normally got it. It seemed like pressure to just say yes to the treatment. The girls were clearly uncomfortable with the questions and not knowledgeable about what insurance would or wouldn’t cover or what the treatments would cost. When I was their age (they were both pre-teens if I had to guess), the dentist staff would consult with me while my parents were around to confirm what treatment I should receive. You can’t expect a middle schooler to know if their insurance covers specific treatments. I can barely figure that out and I’m a grown adult.
