This office is the most unprofessional office I’ve ever been to.. I’ve been dealing with them for the past 6 years and every time I go there there’s new faces. The last year I’ve had the best orthodontist.. he finally helped me get my teeth straight and the way I wanted them. Went to a follow up today.. which again orthodontist was amazing as always and very attentive. After my 11am appointment I had a 11:30 appointment to get my cleaning done.. that was the worst cleaning I’ve ever had done in my life.. it lasted a whole 2 minutes.. and dentis proceed he needed to do another very extensive X-ray.. after I got a X-ray 4 months ago and I agreed to get another one before he suggested the “extensive one” so practically two in one day. I refused. Doctor told me I was good to go.. front lady staff with dark hair that was training.. rolled her eyes as I was walking out along with the doctors assistant that “assisted” with suction during my mediocre cleaning. Highly suggest go to another facility for cleaning.

I’ve been going here for Ortho. For over 3yrs as part of my braces process. Each appt. Is relatively smooth without complaint. The only flaw I’d say is it can be slow for them to attend you.

If you’re considering coming here, please read this review. It could save your life (literally).

Initially, my first apt wasn’t bad. I needed 2 molars extracted, so we scheduled it that same week (1 star for that). I did have 1 big problem with my first apt, and that was there was a woman in the chair to my left coughing her freaking lungs out. I mean for upwards of an hour, uncontrollable, horrible coughing. I was so terrified and they never asked her to step out. In the middle of a pandemic, that is so unbelievably unacceptable.

The day of the extraction was fine (1 star for that).

The problems came a few days later. I followed all the aftercare instructions, though it still seemed that I developed dry socket with both extractions. The dentist never even informed me what dry socket was, that it was a potential risk with any tooth removal, or what the symptoms were. I had never even heard of it until I looked up my symptoms on my own.

I made an apt to have it looked at. After speaking with a few people who have dealt with dry socket, they told me they would re pack it with medicated gauze, which would also help the unbelievable pain.

I’m called back to be seen, still wearing my mask, my temperature was not taken (though they claim that they do temperature checks) waiting for the dentist. When he came in, I explained to him how much pain I was in, and that I suspect I have dry socket.

He didn’t have me remove my mask, he didn’t even examine me. Never asked to see the extraction site, literally nothing. He just pulled out his prescription pad and filled it out for hydrocodone.. He never asked me what medication I currently take, never examined the wounds, never checked to see if they were healing okay. Just gave me the prescription paper and walked out. You’re going to so freely prescribe an opioid to someone without even seeing what’s wrong?

I took it upon myself to google if I can take hydrocodone with one of my daily medications, and thank god I did. Combining the two is deadly.

So here I am, the worst pain I’ve ever felt, a dentist that didn’t even check to see if I’m healing normally, prescribing me an opioid that I can’t even take without risking seizures, my heart stopping, or death, not knowing if I have an infection. It’s terrifying to think that someone else may be prescribed the same thing, not google it, and their life is over at the hands of Familia Dental.

It felt like the dentist was in a rush and just wanted to get done as fast as he could he only took maybe three to five minutes for my teeth cleaning I don't think he did a good job I told him It felt like I had a sharp edge on one of my tooth and had some pain but he didn't seem to care

The time we spent in the waiting room was fairly short. My 23 month old daughter had her very first dentist appointment yesterday and she was hysterical the majority of our visit. The staff were very patient with her and knew just how to calm her done enough to get her to show them her teeth. Familia Dental will definitely be her permanent place to receive dental care.

My appointment was at 11am for ortho consultation. I was told to be there 15-30 mins early to fill out paperwork. I had all the paperwork done before my appointment then waited 45 mins before we were called back. 1145, it was at that time they took my nieces xrays and then the nurse got an attitude with me about her still having baby teeth and that they won’t even submit it for insurance as the teeth are there. I was then told to wait for the dr to exam her and to tell me the same thing.....I waited 10 more mins with no one coming back to check on me. I flagged someone down and asked why they were making me wait longer to be told the same thing by the doctor, that I had already waited for 45 mins after my appointment time.

I’ve had two children go thru the braces process at the University of Iowa School of Dentistry and had a wonderful experience there. I will never return to this place the attitudes and wait time was very unprofessional. The front desk and check in process was actually very nice.

Familia Dental was able to get us in quickly when we had a emergency situation on a Saturday afternoon. They were friendly, efficient and explained all our options to us. They were able to fix her teeth in a timely fashion so she could get to her Homecoming Dance. Thank you Familia Dental!

Would give one star but the dentist was actually great with my daughter he had the patience and took his time she was a little apprehensive being as she's only 8
My issue is the initial appointment was for school which I stated when I made the appointment and after the visit i gave the front desk the information about which school etc. They never faxed the forms and after several calls I had to drive across town to pick up the paperwork which should of been sent over weeks prior! In my opinion it was an inconvenience the front desk ladies are extremely rude as well!

Monica Maricle

Worst dentist staff ever. They were so rude, didn't introduce themselves to me or my daughter, and they weren't even going to tell me that the dentist supposidly looked at her x-rays or what he said about them. All the girl said is I'm going to clean her teeth and you are good to go. I will never use this dentist again.
