Shamblott Family Dentistry

I am not a fan of going to the dentist, but I have to tell you the moment I walked in and saw the friendly faces and smelled the aroma of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, I knew my experience at Shamblott would be different. Thanks Dr. Scott and staff for making me so comfortable! I'll be back ;)

Wonderful experience!! I had an emergency root canal performed on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. The staff was great. It was very important to them that I was in no pain while the procedure was performed to the point of getting me a blanket because the room was cool.

Wow!! Can't say enough about this place..Best dental experience by far..called in day before with pain in tooth got me in first thing next day..from check and filling out forms needed was in chair in 10 minutes..Elma got my x-rays done and Dr.Turner was there immediately. It was determined I needed (2) root canals and that I should have a wisdom tooth pulled also. They filled out options for me as to whether I wanted all three done or just one or two procedures..I opted for all three and was not expecting to have a good day..one thing that really impressed me was they didn't judge me as to how long it had been since my last visit to a dentist. I still have a couple other things I need done and will now not be hesitant to book appointment. Dr. Liz Turner and he asst.Elma were AMAZING! It took almost three hours in the chair but passed time by watching a movie and just listening to the Dr. And her assistant just talking about there day to day stuff...very relaxing atmosphere...you feel like they are treating you like family..always asking if your ok..if you have any pain..etc. after all that work I expected the night to be not good..I was given a prescription for pain..but never had to use it..absolutely no pain after..sorry for the long review but dental work gives me a lot of anxiety and I know others out there are the same...but I promise if you use these folks it will change your mind about going to the dentist...thanks again Shambl Ottawa Family Dentistry and especially Dr. Turner!!

I can't believe I picked that I "loved" the dentist. I really hate the dentist and have since I was a kid. And yet, these guys are great.

Dr. Shamblott is my main dentist and he is so honest. I went in with a treatment plan from another dentist and it just didn't feel right. Dr. Shamblott showed me x-rays and pictures of my teeth to explain where he thought I needed work done. He gave me options - some cheaper, some more expensive, and all with pros and cons - and let me choose which was right for me. He devised a plan to work in stages to get the things done to get me out of pain now, with more steps along the way until my mouth is in tip-top shape. He explained to me that watching small cavities can end up costing more - and causing pain. A small cavity can turn into a big cavity, root canal, and crown, or a cracked tooth and crown, and those cost way more than a tiny filling to stop the decay right now. He started my work and I even had my first root canal and it didn't hurt at all by the time I got home that afternoon.

I also say Dr. Tracy. She filled in when Dr. Shamblott was out, and she was just as kind, patient, and caring as he was. She only did the work I wanted to do then, which was the next stage of the plan. Again - no pain by the time I got home.

Once I saw Dr. Claudia, too. She put my temporary cap back on when it came off (I guess caramel apples don't work well with temporaries - my bad). She didn't scold me or anything.

And Molly in the office was super helpful making sure I knew how much everything was going to cost and helping me figure out how to pay for it. They had financing that didn't charge me interest and Molly knew how to plan my treatment to make the most of my dental insurance. In the end, insurance paid more than she expected and she sent me a refund. NICE!

I had an emergency root canal preformed at this office yesterday. I have wrote an in depth complaint to Dr. Shamblott and hopes he addresses the negative experience that I had. Overall, here are some of the negatives of my appointment:

*Wait Time- I was at the clinic from around 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 for an emergency root canal
*Office Temperature- I was very cold even after being covered with 2 blankets and the dental assistant explained that the temp was kept low to keep the staff comfortable as they are running around all day
*Root Canal procedure- The dentist left a piece of a tool in my root canal and described it as a "souvenir" of the procedure and did not offer to remove, I also left swollen and in pain after previously being told the root canal would be no big deal

What an wonderful experience it was going to see Dr. Shamblott. I had a bad cracked tooth and was in sever pain. I called at 7am to see if and when i might be available to get in since i was going to be a new patient i thought it would be awhile. The Lady that answered the phone at the office asked me "when can you get here?" ""we will fit you it"

All the Lady's at the from desk were extremely pleasant and helpful with getting me set up in their system. I may have waited 15 minutes and I was called in to be looked at.
I am not someone who likes to go to the dentists, i have bad anxieties going, The Staff read my concerns on that and made me feel as comfortable as possible. They were very caring and communicated with me every step of the way so i knew what was going on and what to expect and made sure i was OK with it. Dr. Shamblott recommended extracting on one wisdom tooth as well as the badly cracked tooth that could not be saved. Dr. Shambott made sure to give me enough nova cane and time for it to set in and I was also offered laughing gas to ease my anxiety which i took them up on the offer. I felt no pain during the procedure and was done very quickly.
After the procedure i went to the desk to check out and was helped by another pleasant helpful lady.
I can not say high enough praises about this Dentist office and staff I will always be your Patient.

Very thorough in the examination and cleaning of my teeth. Kathy gave good advice on using an electric toothbrush. Told me to make sure I floss after each meal. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend Shamblott to others.

I had a dental emergency and not only were they able to get me in same day, they called me when an earlier opening became available. I always receive excellent customer service at Shamblott, and I've worked with a number of the hygienists and dentists. They always make me comfortable and make sure I'm not experiencing any discomfort.

I have avoided going to the dentist for 11 years because of my anxiety surrounding dental procedures, but recently I had to go in for an ER procedure. I had all four wisdom teeth removed and a cyst from my gum that they found. I was terrified, but they got me an appointment within a week of me going in and the procedure was smooth sailing to say the least! Every person I spoke with at their office was very nice, professional and super respectful of my anxieties and fears. I was most afraid of the sedation part of my surgery, but all I can remember is smiling faces and being told I would get sleepy. Then I woke up to more smiling faces and a healthier mouth! I can say whole heartedly that I will continue to visit this office (I now have a regular cleaning scheduled which I thought I would never have the courage to do). If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! This truly is the place to go if you have dental anxiety.

I had a dental emergency and my former dentist was closed for the long holiday weekend. A Google search turned up Shamblott and I called for an appointment. I saw Dr. Henson and things quickly improved. He had to refer me to a specialist but prescribed medication to control the pain in the meantime. He thoroughly explained his suspicion for the source of my discomfort and the specialist confirmed he was correct. I'm so greatful that Shamblott and Dr. Henson were available to see me on short notice and begin the healing process.
