Hawaii Family Dental - Queen Kaahumanu Center

I love this place! I can't say enough good things about them. Everyone is very friendly you get reminders about your appointments and I love their pediatric center. It's open air so no one is taking your child in some weird backroom. They allow your children to sit on your lap and give them prizes for being a good kid!

I would be more than happy to leave a review about how amazing Tara (sorry if I misspelled) was during my visit! I expressed to her my concerns of being sensitive and nervous and she was wonderful! She was gentle, kind and communicated w/ me the entire time. I am very pleased! Thank you!

Worst overall dental experience in my life. I scheduled an exam and cleaning. I have had a lot of work done on my teeth since a child due to poor enamel and have had many appointments over the course of my 40 years. The majority of the staff were extremely polite, with the exception of one receptionist who was overtly rude and dismissive when asked a simple question in an attempt to retrieve my insurance card and driving license previously provided. The dentist's assistant, however, was very kind and compassionate. From the dentist herself (or anyone during my appointment), I did not receive a gum-depth test, a tarter scrape, thorough examination of each tooth, or a floss. The "cleaning" was bumbled and jarring, including the skin of my gums and sensitive areas on specific teeth, which were painful, and remain so. (My gums were left shredded and bleeding in places). The surface of every tooth was not cleaned. I opted for the flouride treatment, which was slopped on the majority of my teeth for approximately $80.

I do not recommend.

Had my first filling done in over 25 years and what a wonderful experience! Dr. Heather was amazing, the shot, which she said I would feel a "pinch" - didn't feel a thing. Such a surprise. Whole thing over in less than 10 minutes.

Been going to HFD for over 7 years and highly recommended them. Such a friendly group of professionals!

What I thought would be a simple filling replacement turned into 6 TRIPS to the dentist and cost me $587.91 (including their local plan). The filling was placed too high and the tooth was injured because of it. The filling needed to be grinded 3 separate times because of significant sensitivity chewing on it.

The dentist seemed rushed during all but the last appointment and I think it showed in the quality of work I received. My initial exam lasted less than 10 minutes and I was immediately rescheduled for another day to get the filling. During the second grinding I had to stop the dentist from leaving and remind her to do a bite test; so she put her gloves back on, did the bite test, then began grinding on my teeth again. I feel the customer shouldn't have to tell a Dentist to please finish their work.

I called to speak with a manager about the situation to try and come to a more effective solution than being rushed in and out of the office. I left a message with reception and was never contacted about it. I then sent Lori 2 emails trying to touch base about my issues and they were not responded to. She stated that the office would honor a $140 bill I had for my dental check on vacation, that has yet to be honored.

Receptionists can schedule an appointment and take your money, that's about it. I asked to speak with a manager and they said they would forward that information and I would be contacted. That didn't happen, or the manager just ignored it.

I have patiently put considerable time and effort into trying to get the quality of work I paid for, but all it has done is add more costs (with 12 hrs of drive time and time taken off work.)

I do not recommend this office. They have shown where their customers stand in their operation.

Arrving at my appointment, I waited 1.5 hours to be seen by the dentist and another 30 mins to do the filling. I felt rushed. Patient care and customer service is must in the dental field. On the good note my dentist does a great job.

In general this Dental office and the staff are great. However yesterday my daughter didn't get to see the dentist. After her cleaning we waited and and waited. after 45minutes I asked how much longer, we had other places to be. Another 10 minutes pass and I ask again. I am told the dentist has a person in the chair and one more person in front of us. Ok I get things happen but we were the only other people there in the waiting room. Were we going to sit there for another hour and not be told. Perhaps the staff could have said after the cleaning , the dentist is running and hour or more behind would you like to go some where and come back. As it was I was just plain annoyed and had to reschedule. Believe it or not you are in the costumer service as well as health care industry. I have been a patient for 20 plus years and expect better.

Everybody in the office from admitting to technicians to doctors and other assisting staff was very friendly and professional. The staff was punctual, never waited more than a few minutes from the time of the appointment to be called in. Great job, we highly recommend this practice to anybody with dental needs. I recently visited HFD and saw Dr. Rizk. I am so glad to have found a wonderful dentist who is gentle, caring and a professional dentist. She really made me feel that my needs really matter and I was not just another patient sitting in a chair.
I have seen her twice now and look forward to getting long awaited work done since COVID struck. That is surprising since I dread going to the dentist period😜
It’s nice to know there are dentists who really care about their patients. In the past, I have felt more like a number rather than a person.

Dr. Istvan is an absolute treasure in her attentiveness, care, expertise, and skill. I have never been comfortable in a Dentist chair than when under her care. I am so appreciative. Mahalo nui loa
